Lorrimer Community Volunteer Day
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesWelcome to the Lorrimer Community Volunteer Day! Help us clean up and beautify Lorrimer Sanctuary for spring! We will run a deer drive, weed our native garden, and do light trail clean-up. Join us on Wed, Apr 03, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Lorrimer Sanctuary for a day of giving back to our community. This event is a great opportunity to meet new people, enjoy nature, and make a positive impact on the environment. Whether you're a seasoned volunteer or new to community service, there's a place for everyone at the Lorrimer's Community Volunteer Day. Tasks may include light trail maintenance, walking through the woods for a deer drive, or weeding and garden clean-up in preparation for spring. Please wear comfortable clothes, shoes that can get muddy, and bring a water bottle. Light refreshments will be provided, but feel free to bring food for break times while we get to know the other members of our volunteer crew! Come be a part of something bigger than yourself and help make our community a better place. We can't wait to see you there! COST: FREE FAQ: Do I need to stay for all 3 hours? No! We will welcome your help for as much time as you have available. Can young children come? Yes, kids can definitely get involved! We will have activities like picking up sticks and light weeding that are perfect for young hands. Will you cancel in case of poor weather? If it is downpouring, thunderstorming, or there are high winds, we will cancel. Otherwise, this event will be on. Please wear clothing appropriate for being outdoors in cold or rain. REGISTER HERE
Creative Hands Club: Floating Flower Frames
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin Center Director, Gretchen Whitman to make a lovely spring art piece. Arrange a variety of colorful, pressed flowers amongst a transparent background. When framed, it appears as if the flowers are floating. Pre-registration is required. COST: $35 Members, $42 Non-member. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Creative Hands Club: Repurposed Puzzle Pieces
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesIf you love puzzles, this workshop is for you! Old puzzle pieces will be painted in a variety of colors and used to create your choice of several projects. You can make jewelry, a picture frame, or a custom design on canvas. Examples and all materials will be provided. Led by Program Director, Emily Reed. Pre-registration is required. COST: $35 Members, $42 Non-member. New Jersey Audubon – Digital Photography Exhibit Opening Reception
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesThe Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a digital photography exhibit from April 1 to June 29, 2024. It will feature an impressive lineup of New Jersey Audubon photography instructors including Phil and Becky Witt, Jack and Ellen Moskowitz, and David and Cathy DesRochers. Visitors can anticipate a diverse range of photographic styles and subjects, showcasing the instructors' expertise and the unique perspectives they bring to the art form. The exhibit aims to not only celebrate the beauty of nature but also inspire a deeper connection with the environment and a renewed commitment to conservation. To mark the opening of this fascinating exhibit, a special reception will be held on April 14th from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Creative Hands Club: Glass on Glass Mosaics
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesBack by popular demand, create a glass on glass mosaic with Tina Giaimo! The theme is plants and pollinators. Templates will be provided with outlines plus all the materials needed to make a framed scene. Wednesday's class is for cutting and gluing glass pieces to an upcycled frame. Come back the next evening for cleaning and grouting the piece so that is ready to be hung. If you can not make the Thursday evening class, contact Emily ([email protected]) to arrange another time to finish your project. Pre-registration is required.
