What treasures does the sea leave behind at the water’s edge? Join us for an hour of beach combing to find out! Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats - the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll scour the shallows, comb the shoreline, and walk along the dunes in search of hidden treasures & signs of wildlife. Along the way, we’ll share some tips and tricks for identifying shells and other beach-inhabiting species! Pre-registration is required. Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. COST:$10/children, $12/adults WHEN: Wednesdays, 8:30am-9:30am WHERE:Meet at the flagpole near the Pavilion at the end of the Promenade by the Cove Beach (Cove Beach, Cape May, NJ, 08204). Metered parking is available along Beach Drive IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Join area writer, birder, and conservation advocate Kelly Ball to craft a life-sized bird sculpture from upcycled cloth and become part of a crowdsourced art project. Each handcrafted bird commemorates a real bird that lost its life after hitting glass. Your bird will become part of a 300-ft art project that will travel the U.S. to educate the public about bird-window collisions and you'll be part of the searchable database of people that contributed. We'll also learn how to prevent bird-window collisions - especially important during spring migration! Note: This is a family-friendly program. Adults must accompany children. Led by Jeremy Cohen, Associate Naturalist Join our naturalist for a Sunday afternoon family bird walk at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary. Bring the family or just yourself. We’ll look for the sanctuary's winter resident birds. Loaner binoculars will be available. Registration required at Eventbrite by 4:00 on 04/11/26. Consider attending our Learning the Birds by Song class with Randy Little immediately following the walk at 1:00 PM for more bird learning! Get ready for a week filled with fun, adventure, and learning in the great outdoors! Fun activities include nature art, bug hunts, and more! Sessions available for kindergarten-4th grade. We will start the workshop by walking around the Nature Center’s trails in search of the first blooms of Spring. Then we will use our collected flowers to create a one-of-a-kind print from natural pigments! The whole family is invited to get in on the fun. Your ticket includes crafting supplies for each child.
