We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. IMPORTANT INFORMATION:  We bird in all weather. Be sure to check the forecast in advance and dress in layers appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. The weather in Cape May can differ considerably from nearby inland areas and may be warmer, colder, or windier so it’s best to be over prepared. We may have to bird in the rain, so please bring your rain gear. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s CMBO programs are virtually never cancelled. Help pull a seine net through the Cape May Harbor to see first-hand what creatures inhabit the waters. Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of Cape May Harbor. You will learn about the ecology of our coastal waters, and about the fascinating and ancient Horseshoe Crab. A great family outing! Pre-registration is required COST: $12 adults, $6 children ages 3-12, children under 3 free. Limited to groups of up to 20 participants during this time. Walk the Cove with a naturalist to discover the gifts the sea leaves behind at the water's edge. Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats — the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll search the shallows, comb the shoreline for treasures, and walk along the dunes in search of wildlife.
