NJ Audubon: Autumn Outing at Hawk Rise Sanctuary
Hawk Rise Sanctuary 1811 Lower Rd, Linden, NJ, United StatesLed by Angus Macaulay, NJ Audubon Teacher Naturalist Join us for a morning walk among the changing foliage of oak, maple, and sweet gum trees that surround the Hawk Rise trail. Along the way we will take time to appreciate all of the wildlife that we encounter. This program is appropriate for individuals of all ages. Come dressed for the weather. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Registration is required by 10/07/2023 at 4:00 PM. COST: FREE REGISTER HERE
Fishing Basics
Learn the art of fishing at Fishing Basics: get hands-on experience, expert tips, and have a reel-y great time! Join us for a fun-filled day of fishing basics! Whether you're a beginner or just want to brush up on your skills, this in-person event is perfect for you. Our experienced instructors will cover everything from casting techniques to knot tying. You'll also learn about bait selection and fish identification. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow fishing enthusiasts and enjoy the great outdoors. So, grab your friends and family and get ready for a day of reeling in some unforgettable memories! AND you'll get the chance to try your luck at fishing! Rods and tackle will be available to share, but you are welcome to bring your own. This program is geared for children 5th grade + and adults. LOCATIONS: October 1st: Lake Henry at Continental Soldiers Park, Mahwah October 8th: Ramapo Valley County Reservation, Mahwah COST: $15 members, $18 non-members WEATHER NOTICE: This program takes place entirely outdoors and will take place in light rain. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. After the talk, watch as small tags are affixed to Monarchs to track their migration to Mexico. And best of all, you'll learn how you can contribute to Monarch conservation! NO preregistration required. Natural Habitats Trolley Tour

Join Cape May Bird Observatory naturalists on a trolley tour to local “natural habitats” (with exits at two spots), learning about the beauty, diversity, abundance (millions of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies pass through each year), geography, and extensive history of this amazing spectacle. Relax and be entertained in the birding capital of North America! Co-sponsored by New Jersey Audubon's Cape May Bird Observatory and the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities. Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin Lorrimer Sanctuary for a Nature Tech Walk where we will be investigating our natural world using phone apps like iNaturalist, Seek, and Merlin to identify the birds, plants, and animals around us! Technology isn't so bad when you can use it to better your identification skills, sharpen your nature photography, keep track of your life list, or tune your ear to special bird call. We will be focusing on iNaturalist, Seek and Merlin for this program. This walk is intended for adults or families. Please bring either an Apple or Android device that can support application downloads. COST: $8 member, $10 Non-member.
