Coffee and Birds
Featured Coffee and BirdsLorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesCoffee and Birds Start your morning off right at Lorrimer Sanctuary with a cup of coffee and a front row seat to our new birdwatching facilities! You will be able to relax inside as well as outside on our brand-new observation deck. Bonus points if you bring your own mug! Please register so we know how much to brew! Fishing Basics

Whether you're a beginner or just want to brush up on your skills, this in-person event is perfect for you. Our experienced instructors will cover everything from casting techniques to knot tying. You'll also learn about bait selection and fish identification. This is a great opportunity to meet fellow fishing enthusiasts and enjoy the great outdoors. So, grab your friends and family and get ready for a day of reeling in some unforgettable memories! In partnership with Franklin Lakes Healthy Living. COST: Child (NJ Audubon Member): $10 Child (Non-member): $10 Adult (NJ Audubon Member) – Participating: $12 Adult (Non-member) – Participating: $12 Chaperone (non-participating adult): FREE IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Participants are welcome to bring their own equipment, loaner rods, tackle, and bait will be available to share. Summer Stargazing
FeaturedLorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesEnjoy the natural beauty of the stars at night and learn about the seasonal constellations! Join us for this after-dark program all about the stars! We'll be looking up as we learn all about the constellations and their myths during this family-friendly program. Binoculars and telescope for viewing will be provided. We will check out the NEW rooftop observation deck at Lorrimer Sanctuary for an even closer view of the stars. The first part of this event will take place indoors, then we will head outside to observe the stars. Please dress appropriately. This event is weather dependent and will be cancelled if there is rain or cloud cover, participants will be notified of cancellations by 6:00 PM. SCHEDULE: July 2nd: Water in the Weather (Rain & Clouds) July 9th: Water Habitats (Ponds, Streams, Wetlands) July 16th: Water as a Resource (Why We Need It) July 23rd: Water States & Play (Liquid, Ice, Vapor) July 30th: BREAK WEEK August 6th: Who Eats What? Nature Art Club: Plein Air Painting

Plein Air Painting: Plein Air: a French phrase meaning “in open air," refers to the act of painting and drawing natural landscapes or subjects in nature. Immerse yourself in the sights and sounds of Lorrimer Sanctuary! Join us for an afternoon of painting and drawing in our meadow. Supplies will be provided. Led by Teacher Naturalist and Artist Toni Stober. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Supplies will be provided This is an all ages event, not a drop off program: children must have an accompanying adult if under 16 years old This event will be both indoors and outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather. Ticket sale for each class ends at 4:00 PM on the day before the class. COST: $18 members, $20 non-members Please note that Lorrimer's building facilities will be going under construction this winter.
