Join a Lorrimer Sanctuary naturalist for a brief hike as we talk about the native tree species that provide food and shelter for wildlife, as well as how to ID them once their leaves have fallen. Bring a warm jacket and get ready to learn some tips and tricks for identifying all sorts of common trees! COST: $10 members, $12 nonmembers. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: Fully vaccinated people may attend outdoor programs without masks. If you are unvaccinated, please mask up. Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Spring ephemerals are the short-lived stars of early spring in NJ's woodlands, bringing color and life to an often cold and muddy season. Learn about the stories and medicinal properties of these unique little plants with find plenty of opportunities to view them up close! Dress appropriately for the weather! We will be outdoors the entire time. COST: $8 members / $10 nonmembers IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Dress for the weather. This program is entirely outdoors. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. NJ Audubon: Wildflower ID Made Easy

Join Teacher Naturalist Dorothy Smullen to learn hands-on wildlfower identification. Tired of looking through an entire wildflower field guide looking for that wildflower? Dorothy will show you step by step how to use the identification keys in your field guides. Learn the basic flower vocabulary you need and then practice some hands-on flower identification. Then outdoors for a trail walk to see and practice identifying what’s in bloom. Bring your field guide, and a camera if you like. Registration required by 5/20 at 4:00 PM. One person per ticket. After the walk visit our Fall Native Plant Sale at 10:00 that features native trees and shrubs. Ticket sales end at 4:00 PM the day before the walk.
