Join Nature Center of Cape May naturalists to unveil the flora and fauna lurking within the Cape May Harbor. Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of the harbor. What treasures does the sea leave behind at the water’s edge? Join us for an hour of beach combing to find out! Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats - the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll scour the shallows, comb the shoreline, and walk along the dunes in search of hidden treasures & signs of wildlife. Along the way, we’ll share some tips and tricks for identifying shells and other beach-inhabiting species! Pre-registration is required. Children may not participate without an adult. Join us for a reTURN the Favor walk organized by New Jersey Audubon to help rescue stranded horseshoe crabs and learn more about them along the way. This event is great for all ages. Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet, and be prepared for the conditions, including bug spray and sun protection. We will begin the program in the Nature Center’s Aqua Lab before venturing onto the harbor beach to search for horseshoe crabs! PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: FREE Interested in becoming a member? What treasures does the sea leave behind at the water’s edge? Join us for an hour of beach combing to find out! Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats - the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll scour the shallows, comb the shoreline, and walk along the dunes in search of hidden treasures & signs of wildlife.
