Enjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff or Associate Naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin LakesJoin Lorrimer's Teacher Naturalist and enjoy watching your naturalist go wild experiencing woodland adventures. For kids 4-8 years old. Lorrimer Sanctuary invites families, friends, and nature lovers to join us for an exploration of our natural world. Enjoy watching your budding naturalist ‘go wild’ experiencing woodland adventures. Children use all their senses to safely explore and discover the wonders of nature here at Lorrimer Sanctuary. Children are introduced to nature concepts using a combination of storytelling, exploration and arts and crafts. It is educational and fun! Best for families with children 4-8 years old. COST: $6 per member child / $8 per non-member child CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. NJ Audubon River Ramble
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, BernardsvilleBring the family and explore a stream with nets and buckets. Catch crayfish, water striders, water pennies, and more! The Passaic River gently flows through our sanctuary, and is shallow and perfect for wading in. Please wear sturdy closed-toe water shoes. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. Registration required by 6/02 at 4:00 PM. One family per ticket. Limited to 6 families. Full Moon Hike
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin LakesExperience the beauty of a full moonlit night at Lorrimer, learn your owl calls, and search for nocturnal creatures during this fun walk! Ever wonder what animals are out and about at night? Under the bright light of a full moon, come experience the wonder of a spring night in nature! We will use flashlights to gently illuminate the tiny insects that live in the leaf litter, practice our owl calls (and see if the owls call back!), and use our senses to guide us during this one-hour program.
