New Jersey Audubon’s Stewardship Department is partnering with local organizations and federal agencies to bring you a 2026 Working Lands for Wildlife informational webinar series! Download the informational flyer HERE Each Wednesday this online series will focus on key species and their habitats that we are working to conserve across the landscape including American Black Duck, Bog Turtle, Northern Bobwhite (quail) and associated species, and Golden Wing Warbler. Local professionals from Natural Resources Conservation Service, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Ducks Unlimited, Xerces Society and New Jersey Audubon will present on a rotating list of topics. It is free to attend and will take place Wednesdays at 7pm EST from January 28th-March 4th. Open Air/ Open Space Art Exhibition at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesExperience Open Air / Open Space, a juried art exhibit celebrating Somerset County's Open Space Preservation Program, featured in the Wayrick Art Gallery on the 2nd floor of the Scherman Hoffman Nature Center from February 6 through March 25. This special exhibition showcases the unique beauty of Somerset County's extensive public park system through the perspectives of both professional and novice New Jersey Plein Air artists. Sponsored by the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, Somerset County Park Commission, Somerset County Open Space Preservation Program, and Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, the exhibit honors the county's long-standing commitment to preserving land for conservation, passive use, and active recreation. Spring Dance of the Woodcock at Negri Nepote Native Grassland
Led by Chris and Paula Williams, NJ Audubon Associate Naturalists. The American Woodcock, a long-billed woodland bird, probes in soft wet soil of wetlands and eats its weight in worms each day. Woodcock return to Franklin Township in late winter or early spring to mate and nest. Males of the species begin calling and performing an aerial courtship-display-flight when the afternoon shadows are almost gone. Please dress for the weather, and preferably wear boots. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. There will be no walk 4/4, 5/2. 5/9, and 5/23. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? Birding Cape May Point
Cape May Point State Park Hawkwatch Platform NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for 2 hours of birding around beautiful Cape May Point! The “shoulder season” in Cape May is a wonderful time for birding and there’s no better place to do it than the Cape May Point State Park. With its diversity of habitat – beach, dunes, ponds, forest, and marsh – it’s the perfect spot for migrating waterfowl, songbirds and shorebirds to stop and refuel as the push of spring migration begins. We’ll travel the trails, check out CMBO’s Northwood Center and other surrounding hotspots on The Point, as we soak up the wonder of this annual phenomenon of Nature. Join us every Saturday for 2 hours of birding at the Cape May Point State Park and let us share with you the wonder of this special time of year. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. Spruce Run Boat Launch 12 Van Syckles Rd, Clinton, NJ, United StatesThese reservoirs can host lots of geese, ducks, and gulls. We'll also search nearby uplands for field and forest birds. These reservoirs are known for a variety of wintering waterfowl and up to 7 species of gulls, including some of the highest counts of Lesser Black-backed Gulls in North America. We’ll also bird the surrounding parks’ upland habitats for other wintering species like raptors and songbirds. Expect to walk 3-4 miles on well-defined trails and paths. Led by Alan Mart. NJ Audubon: Primer for Spring Birding at Hawk Rise

Join us at Hawk Rise for a birding walk along the trails of Hawk Rise, and a discussion of the resources available to birders. We will touch on binoculars, phone apps, and prime locations. Loaner binoculars will be available. This program is appropriate for individuals of all ages. Come dressed for the weather. Hot or cold beverages will be served afterwards depending on the weather. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat. For ages 15 years and older. This workshop will be held outdoors when the weather is suitable. During inclement weather it will be held indoors. Ticket sale ends on the day of each class at 10:45 AM. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. There will be no classes 4/4, 5/9, and 5/23. Our tutorial session will be focused on a review of game objectives, set-up, player actions, and goals. No experience necessary. Recommended for adults due to the required reading ability, strategizing, and understanding of rules. 2:30 to 3:00 - Bonus Birding Walk: After our session, join us for a half hour walk around the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary grounds in search of bird species featured in the game.
