Harbor Safari
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin Nature Center of Cape May naturalists to unveil the flora and fauna lurking within the Cape May Harbor. Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of the harbor. You will learn about the ecology of our coastal waters, the natural history of the land, and examine the fascinating & ancient Horseshoe Crab. Perfect for families! Pre-registration is required. Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. WHEN: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30am-12:00pm WHERE: Meet 5-10 minutes before your program time on the second floor of the Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, 08204. Free parking is available along Delaware Avenue. COST: $10/children, $12/adults IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. Restrooms will be available to the public 30 minutes before and after the program. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Beachcombing the Cove
Sunset Pavilion 62 Beach Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesWhat treasures does the sea leave behind at the water’s edge? Join us for an hour of beach combing to find out! Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats - the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll scour the shallows, comb the shoreline, and walk along the dunes in search of hidden treasures & signs of wildlife. Along the way, we’ll share some tips and tricks for identifying shells and other beach-inhabiting species! Pre-registration is required. Children may not participate without an adult. After School Nature Club (Spring Session)

Each day will feature a nature topic, walk, craft, activity, and/or story! We welcome the next generation of naturalists to Lorrimer Sanctuary for our after-school nature club! Designed to be a continuation from our Tiny Tots program, we will read books, explore outside, make nature-themed crafts, and learn about the environment in age-appropriate ways. This IS a drop-off program, but parents are invited to stay and have coffee or chat inside during the program! Homeschoolers welcome! COST: $8 per child for members $10 per child for nonmembers, $80 Member Child (All Session Ticket) $102 Non-Member Child (All Session Ticket) Registration ends at 5 pm the day before each event! Birding South Cape May – Lower Cape May County Library walk
FeaturedThe Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows 692 Sunset Blvd, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO staff and naturalists as we partner with Lower Cape May County Library for special lectures and field trips! Join CMBO Program Coordinator, Adehl Schwaderer, and Volunteer Naturalists for 2 hours of birding around beautiful South Cape May Meadows! June is when migrating shorebirds are looking for places to rest and refuel on their journey north, while other birds are already in the middle of their breeding season. During this program, we will be scouring this Nature Conservancy property to see which of these busy bird species we can track down. We will meet in the Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows parking lot and take a slow stroll along the preserve’s trails. Binoculars provided if needed. Not watching birds when in Cape May is like not visiting the Grand Canyon when in Arizona! Join us for a relaxed morning of birding whether you are a seasoned birder or have never really watched birds on purpose before PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. Call for Volunteers: Nature Center Camp Prep Day!
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin Us for Nature Center Camp Prep Day! Hey there! We're looking for awesome volunteers to help get the Nature Center ready for camp season. It's an in-person event packed with fun tasks like organizing craft supplies, cleaning, gardening, and putting together a storage rack! Low Difficulty: Gardening in the front of our building and weeding our native plant garden, sorting supplies and setting up indoor spaces, cleaning, sweeping, and wiping down surfaces, hanging artwork High difficulty: heavy lifting and assembly for storage racks. Note: our parking lot is being worked on right now, so participants are asked to park on the local side street Saber Court or get dropped off. Great for teens needing last minute volunteer hours before the end of the school year! Come for any span of time that works for you throughout the day!
