Spring Family Bird Walk at DeKorte Park

Calling all young birders! This family walk is designed to introduce novices to the joys of birding at a unique habitat in the Meadowlands!
Join us on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 9:00 AM for a spring bird walk designed for young birders and novices, though any level of knowledge is welcome! This event will take place at the beautiful Richard W. DeKorte Park in the Meadowlands, where we will observe vibrant bird life in the beginning of spring migration season. Whether you’re a seasoned birder or just starting out, this event is perfect for the whole family to enjoy together. This bird walk is specifically for children, teens, and families. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to connect with nature and learn more about NJ’s native birds and the wonders of migration. This walk will run rain or shine so please dress appropriately. We can’t wait to see you there!

FAQ:
Is this a drop-off program?
- No. If the child is 16+ they may attend without supervision but children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
What is the recommended donation for this program?
- Recommended donation is $10 per family. Individuals may donate whatever they wish.
Will there be binoculars that I can borrow?
- Yes. NJA will provide binoculars and any other necessary gear but participants are encouraged to bring their own.
Will this event be cancelled or postponed in the case of bad weather?
- This walk will run rain or shine. Unless the weather is dangerous – thunderstorms, high winds, etc., we will plan to go out.
