Sussex County Breeding Birds

Come join us for a day of birdwatching in Sussex County to spot and learn about the various breeding bird species in the area! Enjoy the rich diversity of breeding birds in the northwest corner of New Jersey. We’ll explore various habitats in the Kittatinny Mountains and the Ridge & Valley ecosystem. We can expect to see Yellow-billed and Black-billed Cuckoos, Yellow-throated Vireo, Acadian and Alder Flycatchers. Warblers should include Worm-eating, Louisiana Waterthrush, Hooded, Cerulean, and Blackburnian, among others. Mostly roadside birding or short walks, bring lunch, weather-appropriate clothing, and insect repellant. Led by Scott Barnes, Linda Mack.
Location: Meet at the McDonald’s Parking lot in Montague Twp at 8:00 am.
