Kristen Meistrell Promoted to Vice President of Stewardship

NJ Audubon is pleased to announce that Kristen Meistrell has been promoted to Vice President of Stewardship, effective June 26, 2022. Kristen has been a dedicated employee, first joining the Organization in June 2012 and has served in various roles within the Stewardship department, including her most recent role as the Acting Vice President of Stewardship. She brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the position and has a deep understanding of NJ Audubon’s mission.

Working alongside the talented staff at NJ Audubon has given her valuable experience, insight, and knowledge. During her tenure, Kristen has been leading the Southern Stewardship team, working towards the goals set by our Conservation Priorities through landscape-scale stewardship and restoration efforts. She has worked to advance several key initiatives, including those focused on working lands for wildlife in the Delaware River Watershed, invasive plant management on the Cape May Peninsula, and Atlantic White-Cedar and forest stewardship in southern New Jersey. Kristen is currently playing a key role in developing the Organization’s Conservation Priorities and is actively participating in NJ Audubon’s efforts to advance Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice and works to find innovative ways to incorporate this effort into the entire foundation of the Organization.

Prior to joining NJ Audubon, she studied several rare and endangered reptile and amphibian species, including bog turtle and timber rattlesnake, with the NJ Division of Fish and Wildlife’s Endangered and Nongame Species Program and has experience with environmental education through her work at both Hunterdon County and Somerset County parks departments. As a natural leader, she is always looking to guide and motivate the people around her and welcomes the opportunity to support both the Stewardship team and the entire gifted staff at NJ Audubon.

Kristen holds a B.S. in Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources from Rutgers University, Cook College and has numerous professional and leadership certifications.

Please join me in congratulating and supporting Kristen in this new role.

Thank you.
