Spring Birding at Garrett Family Preserve – April 29, 2023

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Bernie Hodgdon, Barry Hershfeld

Temp: 54°F

Winds:  N 0-3 mph

Weather Conditions: mostly sunny

Following last night’s storms, there was a lot of bird song at the Garrett Preserve. Field Sparrows and Northern Cardinals were everywhere, feeding on the ground or perched up, singing. A pair of Osprey have moved into the platform closest to the blind, and groups of yellowlegs were feeding in the marsh grasses. Prairie Warblers and White-eyed Vireos are back but really didn’t want to be seen. One of the many Common Yellowthroats was quite cooperative though, even allowing us extended scope views.
