NJ Audubon: Easy Native Plant Propagation
Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Rd, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Stephanie Punnett, Program Director Start some native plant seeds and make a pollinator home for your garden. Residential landscapes are becoming increasingly important for the survival of native pollinators and other wildlife and can be home for both humans and wildlife. In this workshop we’ll show you how to create a wildlife garden and a simple way to start native plants from seed. You can make up to five mini-greenhouses from repurposed materials and plant your choice of over twenty species of native plant seeds. Since our last year's workshop, we've a few more species of native plants to the seed collection. As a bonus, make a pollinator home for native bees from recycled materials for your backyard. Learn to identify trees in winter without the help of leaves! Join Dorothy to study trees in winter without the help of leaves. Registrants will be studying twigs and their differences in order to identify the unknown tree. After an indoor session, we will walk the trails to see bark patterns. One person per ticket. Learn how to nurture nature as nature nurtures you. Engage your senses. Express, create hands-on projects for take-away. Choose your expression through Aromatherapy (make a sachet to take home), rock painting, seed Mandala art, arrange nature in a jar, paint a tree trunk cutting and much more.
