With a temp of 52 and winds of 23 mph, we had to work for every bird on this morning’s CHC WMA walk. Among the migrants we saw or heard were Prairie, Pine, Parula and Yellow-rumped Warblers, Great-crested Flycatcher, Eastern Kingbird and House Wren. The real treat of the morning though was a Great-horned Owl nestled into a pine tree, found by one of the participants. Half-hidden in the shadows, it still gave us great scope views as it swiveled its head 180 degrees to watch us watching it.
