Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek – September 25, 2022

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Bernie Hodgdon, Alan Crawford

Temp: 65°F

Winds: SW 10 mph

Weather Conditions: mostly cloudy

Yellow-shafted Flicker was the bird of the day at CHC WMA. This medium-distance migrant was frequently seen flying overhead, flashing their yellow underwings and white rumps. As frequent targets of Cooper and Sharp-shinned Hawks, they could also be heard vocalizing as they flew to escape threatening hawks. It was nice to see the lingering Ospreys, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, and a single Indigo Bunting.
