Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek – September 29, 2024

Leaders: Kathy & Roger Horn, Alan Crawford, Bernie Hodgdon, Pam Hubert

Temp: 68° F

Winds: SE 9 mph

Weather Conditions: cloudy

The birding highlight this morning was seeing four Cooper’s Hawks interacting for several minutes from the parking lot at CHC WMA. We couldn’t tell exactly what they were doing, besides occasionally chasing each other. They’d fly from the ground to the trees to the top of the dirt mound, and sometimes seemed interested in something behind a hedge. We had good looks at an adult and a juvenile Bald Eagle and Gray Catbird, Blue Jay and Northern Flicker migration clearly is underway.
