The parking lot seemed unusually quiet as we started out this morning, no Carolina Wrens, or mockingbirds in evidence. But the Northern Gannets were putting on a show over the ocean and scoters were flying by. Back on the path we heard a deep, croaking call and looked up to see a Common Raven fly right overhead, which is not at all common in Cape May! A little further down the path, at the 2nd plover pond, an American Bittern was standing at the water’s edge, providing excellent binocular and scope views. Two Tundra Swans were present, and we saw a single Snow Goose in flight.
