What a day! We were enjoying a male Common Yellowthroat singing out his heart at the top of a tree when a report of a Swallow-tail Kite came from the State Park.  All eyes looked to the west where the bird was spotted soaring over the tree line.  Because the beach was flooded, we climbed the overlook platform to witness 4 Stilt Sandpipers, followed by two Red-necked Phalaropes who flew in while we were watching.  Two White-rumped Sandpipers, Semipalmated Sandpipers and Plovers, Least Sandpipers, Short-billed Dowitchers and both yellowlegs rounded out the fantastic shorebird show. At the end of the walk, a brilliant male Indigo Bunting perched up in front of us singing away.
