Petty’s Island Shorline Clean Up

Petty's Island is privately-owned and is during an amazing transformation from an active marine terminal and oil storage facility into a State Park. Access to the island is limited, so don't miss this opportunity to see the island and help in its transformation. We will be doing a cleanup of the shoreline where marine debris threatens the health of wildlife and humans. Children MUST be 12 and older to participate. EARTH DAY AND MARINE DEBRIS CLEAN-UP

Learn about wildlife gardening and other basic maintenance chores while you assist Nature Center staff and volunteers in sprucing up the gardens for spring. We’ll plant, mulch, deadhead, weed, and prune throughout the Center's grounds and along the harbor. This date coincides with Clean Ocean Action's annual Beach Sweeps. Join us at the Nature Center to help clean our ocean and harbor beaches here in Cape May. Our Earth Day Clean-Up is a great community service project for your civic organization or scout group. We ask that you bring along your own tools (our supply is limited). Preregistration is not required; however, if you plan to bring a large group, we would appreciate a call ahead of time. An exhibition of Scott’s characterful photographs opens at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery, at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, on March 1, 2019 and runs until May 27, 2019. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class.  No experience necessary; all levels welcome.  For ages 15 years and older. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat if you have one (some will be provided.)  This class will be held weekly from 3/2/19 to 4/6/19. Join Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey and CMBO Naturalists. The Maurice River is a well-known wintering and nesting area for Bald Eagles. Particiapnts will search for eagles and other raptors, wintering waterfowl, welcome the return of nesting Ospreys, and enjoy the natural beauty of this part of the river, largely inaccessible by land. Departs from the public landing at the City of Millville Municipal Marina on Ware Avenue at the Route 49 intersection (adjacent to Millville municipal complex/city hall). Ample free parking. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible.
