Meets at the Belleplain State Forest Office on Henkensifkin Road, just off Route 550. Varied habitats yield an amazing diversity of spring migrants and breeders. Highlights include many target species, such as Acadian Flycatcher, Yellow-throated Warbler, and Louisiana Waterthrush.  No preregistration required. Each species and individual displays a unique personality. Think of the relentless determination of the shorebirds, the soaring independence of the raptors, or the colorful charm of the warblers. For bird photographer Scott Gilbert, the magic happens on those special occasions when he is able to reflect the subject's distinctive character in a way that meaningfully resonates with the viewer. An exhibition of Scott’s characterful photographs opens at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery, at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, on March 1, 2019 and runs until May 27, 2019. This year, Lorrimer Nature Sanctuary will be hosting its 3rd annual Tiny Tot World Series of Birding Event! Our team, “Lorrimer Tiny Tot Birders”, will gather at our center and spend some time exploring while listening, watching, counting and identifying as many bird species as we can here at Lorrimer. It will be a fun and educational time for all! Bring a lunch and join us for a picnic at the end of the event! By joining us and collecting pledges or sponsorships, you are directly supporting the conservation and education efforts of NJ Audubon’s Lorrimer Nature Sanctuary. The first 15 children to register will receive our Lorrimer Tiny Tot Birders T-shirt! Cost Free

Meets at the clamshell parking area at the end of Matt's Landing Road near Heislerville, next to the impoundment and across from the marina. Heislerville WMA has become a spring legend, attracting up to four Curlew Sandpipers in recent springs, plus zillions of other shorebirds. Depending on tide conditions, we may visit nearby East Point or Thompson’s Beach. Bring a scope if you have one. No preregistration required. Cost: $6 members, $10 nonmembers.
