Spring Birding at Hawk Rise Sanctuary
Hawk Rise Sanctuary 1811 Lower Rd, LindenExplore the various habitats at Hawk Rise Sanctuary to look for spring migrants. Join NJ Audubon Program Director Scott Barnes and associate naturalists for a leisurely walk at the sanctuary. We’ll look for woodpeckers, thrushes and warblers in the woods and wetland birds like herons, egrets, and Ospreys along the Rahway River. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. Spring Break at Lorrimer Sanctuary
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin LakesJoin us for an exciting Spring Break at Lorrimer Sanctuary! Get ready for a week filled with fun, adventure, and learning in the great outdoors! Fun activities include nature art, bug hunts, and more! Sessions available for kindergarten-3rd grade and 4th-6th grade. Please be sure to pack a lunch! This program takes place mostly outdoors and participants must dress appropriately for all weather conditions. COST: Kindergarten - 3rd Grade $65 4th - 6th Grade $65 CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. We will read books, explore outside, and learn about nature in age-appropriate ways for littles! SCHEDULE: March 21st: Seed Planting March 28th: Radical Reptiles April 4th: April Showers April 11th: Spring Scavenger Hunt April 18th: Nature Egg Hunt April 25th: Earth Day May 2nd : May Flowers May 11th: World Series of Birding COST: $5 per child for members, $6 per child for nonmembers. Shorebirds at Heislerville
Heislerville 114 Matt's Landing Rd., HeislervilleJoin CMBO naturalists at the epicenter of spring shorebirding on the edge of the Delaware Bay. The impoundment at Heislerville has become a spring legend, attracting rarities, plus zillions of shorebirds. Depending on the tide conditions, we may visit nearby East Point or Thompson's Beach. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, BernardsvilleJoin us twice a month to hike/walk the grounds of Scherman Hoffman with our new Center Director, Jan Hudson. This is an opportunity to share your thoughts and ideas 1:1 or in a small group setting. Share your history, involvement, and love of the Sanctuary, give input and feedback regarding the center and get your thoughts and ideas heard. Get your steps in with Jan while learning more about Scherman Hoffman’s future plans! Walk subject to cancellation due to inclement weather. Pre-registration required.
