Migration at the Point
Cape May Point State Park - Outer Parking Lot Lighthouse Ave, Cape May PointJoin Director Brett Ewald and CMBO naturalists for this 2-hour walk around the streets of Cape May Point! With migration in full swing, every day sees new arrivals! Experience the diversity, abundance, sounds and colors of Spring migration at Cape May Point. We’ll enjoy a bonanza of seabirds, waterfowl, shorebirds, songbirds and more in the shadow of the lighthouse and nearby habitats. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. The weather in Cape May can differ considerably from nearby inland areas and may be warmer, colder, or windier so it’s best to be over prepared. We may have to bird in the rain, so please bring your rain gear. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s CMBO programs are virtually never cancelled. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however, registrations can be transferred to another program in the future. We reserve the right to substitute leaders, if necessary, though this rarely happens.
Spring Birding at Hawk Rise Sanctuary
Hawk Rise Sanctuary 1811 Lower Rd, LindenExplore the various habitats at Hawk Rise Sanctuary to look for spring migrants. Join NJ Audubon Program Director Scott Barnes and associate naturalists for a leisurely walk at the sanctuary. We’ll look for woodpeckers, thrushes and warblers in the woods and wetland birds like herons, egrets, and Ospreys along the Rahway River. Bring binoculars and dress for the weather. Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape MayTake a break from your busy day for a relaxing, nature-infused yoga practice. This is a gentle, all levels class led by owner of Itswell Yoga, Emily Reed. Please bring a yoga mat if you have one (we will have a few extras available if needed). We will practice indoors, overlooking the Cape May Harbor. Nature-based poetry and metaphors will be woven throughout each session. Birds of Nummy Island
Nummy Island NJJoin CMBO naturalists for 2 hours of birding around beautiful Nummy Island! This rich salt marsh is one of the best spots to observe hunting and breeding Clapper Rails, herons and egrets, American Oystercatchers, Ospreys, Black Skimmers, terns and Seaside Sparrows, and to enjoy mudflats teeming with migrant shorebirds.
