Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey
Miss Chris Marina - The Osprey 1212 Wilson Dr, Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesJoin Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Seabird ID Mini-Workshop
Avalon Seawatch Avalon, NJ, United StatesThe migration of scoters and other sea ducks, loons, cormorants and gannets can be an overwhelming sight. For example, the CMBO full-time Avalon Seawatch project sighted over one million seabirds here in 2014! Join CMBO interpretive naturalists for this outdoor workshop to witness and learn about this migration spectacle. Meets at the Avalon Seawatch location on the Beach between 8th and 9th St., at the north end of Avalon. NO preregistration required. Above Par Birding at Cox Hall Creek
Cox Hall Creek WMA Shawmont Avenue, Villas, NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for 2 hours of birding around this 253-acre state wildlife management area, formerly a golf course! Trails include easy-walking asphalt paths traversing meadows, open woods, numerous ponds and wet woods along Cox Hall Creek. Good for woodpeckers, grosbeaks, sparrows, warblers and other migrants. Monarchs & Cape May: A Migration Story – Lower Cape May County Library Lecture

Join Cape May Bird Observatory’s (CMBO) Monarch Field Naturalists as they discuss all things Monarch Butterflies! The team will review monarch ecology and lifecycle, as well as the efforts of CMBO’s Monarch Monitoring Project to increase our understanding of the fall migration of monarchs along the Atlantic coast, through both research and education. They will also be able to share some of the data they have collected from the 2026 field season! Most importantly, we hope you leave this presentation with an understanding of how you can help support monarchs so that their migrant populations will enjoy a secure future. Hawks, Trails and Beach

Youth Birders and Fall Migration: Avalon Seawatch
FeaturedAvalon Seawatch Avalon, NJ, United StatesAn afternoon learning about waterbird migration at the east coast’s only full-time seawatch! Youth birders 8 years old and up are encouraged to join NJA Staff and Volunteers to witness sea ducks, loons, gannets, gulls, and more migrants south from CMBO’s Avalon Seawatch. Each fall, an average of almost 800,000 seabirds are counted at the Avalon Seawatch, with some years reaching a season total of over one million migrating birds. During this three-hour program, the group will spend time at the Seawatch identifying migrating seabirds, discussing the five most common species observed from the count, and learning how this migration watch is conducted! Recommended age for field trip: 8 years old and up. Parents or guardians are required to accompany their children during this program at no additional charge. When registering, please use the youth birders name. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED - Registration ends 24hrs before start of program COST: FREE Interested in becoming a member?
