New Jersey Audubon Photography Instructors’ Spring Exhibition
The New Jersey Audubon Photography Instructors’ Spring Exhibition will be held April 1 through June 29, 2024. The Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery at the Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a digital photography exhibit from April 1 to June 29, 2024. It will feature an impressive lineup of New Jersey Audubon photography instructors including Phil and Becky Witt, Jack and Ellen Moskowitz, and David and Cathy DesRochers. Visitors can anticipate a diverse range of photographic styles and subjects, showcasing the instructors’ expertise and the unique perspectives they bring to the art form. The exhibit aims to not only celebrate the beauty of nature but also inspire a deeper connection with the environment and a renewed commitment to conservation. The NJ Audubon Center invites both photography enthusiasts and nature lovers to immerse themselves in this enriching exhibit. Native Plant Sale – Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary
Scherman Hoffman’s Annual Native Plant Sale will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 10am-4pm. We will have a wide selection of native wildflowers in a variety of sizes and prices, as well as vendors and information booths. Come early as favorite plants sell quickly. Our favorites, including milkweeds, asters, mistflower, boneset, lobelia, iris, sunflower, bee balm, ferns, columbine and coneflower are sure to be on hand.

A representative from Zeiss will be at Scherman Hoffman Sanctuary for the World Series of Birding which will be held on Saturday, May 11. The Zeiss Representative will be on hand from 9am – 5pm to answer questions about binoculars and demonstrate the latest binoculars from Zeiss. You will have the opportunity to handle and compare several models of binoculars. Scherman Hoffman carries a selection of Zeiss including the Victory, Victory SF, Conquest and Terra ED binoculars that are sure to fit everyone’s needs. Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist. Discover the fascinating life cycle and structure of ferns in this workshop led by Teacher Naturalist Dorothy Smullen. View the common species of New Jersey ferns and learn how to use a simple key to identify species. Bring a 10x magnifier if you have one; loaner magnifiers will be available to use for the workshop. What We Owe to Birds – Cape May Spring Fest Musical Keynote Performance
You may hear birds singing at your feeder or backyard, now it’s time to listen to music inspired by those beautiful sound. Join us at the state-of-the-art Schmitdtchen Theatre at Lower Cape May Regional High School to see the musical presentation: What We Owe to Birds. This performance is a collaborative music and multimedia project meditating on bird conservation produced by five composers of the Princeton New Jersey-based Consonance Collective (CNSNC). Exploring topics ranging from the evolution of flight, flock migration behavior, birds of urban landscapes, birds endangered by forest fires, and shorebirds conservation, this project is brought to life by the BlackBox Ensemble, an NYC-based contemporary music ensemble dedicated to creating adventurous and engaging performances of the music of our time. What We Owe To Birds is CNSNC’s third entry in a series of collaborations with scientific partners, following on the heels of projects with the Space Telescope Science Institute and the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: General Admission: $25 Admission with VALID STUDENT ID: $12.5 Children 10 and under: FREE IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please note that tickets purchased are considered general admission to the program and DO NOT include access to the reception. This program is a part of the 2024 Cape May Spring Festival. There is a catered appetizer reception for Spring Festival Registrants only.
