Cape May Harbor Beach Sweep and Community Clean-up
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin us at the Nature Center to help clean our ocean and harbor beaches here in Cape May. This date coincides with Clean Ocean Action's annual Beach Sweeps. This is a great community service project for your civic organization or scout group. Additionally, we’ll plant, mulch, deadhead, weed, and prune throughout the Center's grounds and along the harbor. We ask that you bring along your own tools (our supply is limited). Preregistration is not required; however, if you plan to bring a large group, we would appreciate a call ahead of time. (609) 427-3045. Peregrine Project Exhibit
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesFor the past year, photographer Wayne Quinto Greenstone has been documenting the Peregrine Falcons that have returned to their historic nesting sites along the Palisades Cliffs, some 500 feet above the Hudson River. His extraordinary images and creative renditions will be on display at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery through January 25, 2023. The Art Gallery is open 9am – 5pm Thu, Fri Sat and 12 noon – 5pm on Sunday. Cost: FREE Location: Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery on the second floor of the Scherman Hoffman Sanctuary, 11 Hardscrabble Rd. in Bernardsville.
Harbor Art Gallery Opening Reception – November 2022

The Harbor Gallery is pleased to announce their featured local artists for the month of November. Hali MacLaren and John Safrit will display their works with an opening reception to meet the artists on November 4th from 4-6pm. All artwork is for sale, with a portion of sales going to support the Nature Center of Cape May. Light refreshments will be served. The show will remain on exhibit at the Harbor Gallery for the entire month. Location: The Harbor Gallery is located at New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May at 1600 Delaware Ave, Cape May. The Nature Center will follow all CDC Covid safety guidelines.
NJ Audubon Annual Canoe Brook Reservoir Bird Count
Canoe Brook Reservoir JFK Parkway, Short Hills, NJ, United StatesThis RESTRICTED ACCESS site is a hot spot for wintering waterfowl. Join us in our annual bird count for NJ American Water. NJ Audubon has been granted access to New Jersey American Water Canoe Brook Reservoir, one of the best places in Essex County for wintering waterfowl. We may catch a glimpse of hawks and perhaps a Bald Eagle. NJ American Water has been collecting our annual count data for almost 20 years! Be a part of conservation. Affordable prices of these unique works of art will be available to participants in our wreath workshops as well as others who stop by for this outdoor “open house”. The fire pit will be roaring to fend off the chill with a hot chocolate station to warm your tummy. Proceeds go directly to support our artist friends who have been so generous to us through volunteering and providing donations to our fundraisers. NJ Audubon: The Peregrine Project
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesPresented by Wayne Quinto Greenstone, Photographer Wayne Quinto Greenstone will present The Peregrine Project, a documentation of the return of the Peregrine Falcon. For the past year, Mr. Greenstone has been documenting the Peregrine Falcons that have returned to their historic nesting sites along the Palisades Cliffs, some 500 feet above the Hudson River. This classic tale of human sin and redemption as told by the Peregrine Falcons of the Palisades holds the promise of hope and belief that we can address our current existential threats with the same focus and resolve that returned the Peregrine Falcon from the brink. The Peregrine Falcon is the fastest animal on Earth, capable of reaching speeds over 200 miles per hour when diving upon prey. Yet this master of the skies fell victim to the pesticide DDT, and by the early 1960’s there were no known nesting pairs east of the Mississippi River. As the result of extraordinary human efforts to ban this dreaded poison and raise falcons in captivity for release into the wild, these formidable birds have made an incredible comeback over the past two decades. Winter Solstice Celebration

Join us around the campfire as we celebrate the first day of winter! During this celebration, you will learn what a winter solstice is, where the wildlife goes this time of year, and about the many cultural celebrations centered around the darkest day of the year. We will be lighting our bonfire, burning our intentions for the new year, and meditating through our solstice spiral.
