Migration 101 Mini-Workshop

NJ Audubon Early Bird Walks
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesJoin Ben Barkley, Program Director, for an early bird’s eye view of the fall migration. Join us for an early morning Friday bird walk at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary. We will survey the morning migrants from the 3rd floor observation deck and then continue onto the trails for a short hike. The length of the hike will depend on bird activity. Registration required at Eventbrite by 4:00pm the day before each walk COST: FREE for Members, Non-Members: $10 Interested in becoming a member? Cape May Point State Park - East Shelter NJ, United StatesJoin the Monarch Monitoring Project team to learn about the Monarch butterflies that migrate through Cape May, as well as the ongoing research and outreach our staff is doing to help protect the species. After the talk, watch as small tags are affixed to Monarchs to track their migration to Mexico. And best of all, you'll learn how you can contribute to Monarch conservation! NO preregistration required. Family-friendly Meeting Location: Meets at the East Shelter located next to the Hawkwatch platform at the Cape May Point State Park Cost: FREE - contributions to the Monarch Monitoring Project are welcome. Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey
Miss Chris Marina - The Osprey 1212 Wilson Dr, Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesJoin Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible. Candle Wax Painting: Warm up your home this holiday season with your very own wax painted candles! They will be safe to burn afterwards or can be used as a decoration! Led by Teacher Naturalist and Artist Toni Stober. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Supplies will be provided This is an all ages event, not a drop off program: children must have an accompanying adult if under 16 years old This event will be both indoors and outdoors, please dress appropriately for the weather You must pre-register for each class you wish to attend.
