Join Cape May Bird Observatory staff and naturalists on a trolley tour to local “natural habitats” (with exits at two spots), learning about the beauty, diversity, abundance (millions of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies pass through each year), geography, and extensive history of this amazing spectacle. Relax and be entertained in the birding capital of North America! Co-sponsored by New Jersey Audubon's Cape May Bird Observatory and the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities. NJ Audubon Early Bird Walks
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesJoin Ben Barkley, Program Director, for an early bird’s eye view of the fall migration. Join us for an early morning Friday bird walk at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary. We will survey the morning migrants from the 3rd floor observation deck and then continue onto the trails for a short hike. The length of the hike will depend on bird activity. Registration required at Eventbrite by 4:00pm the day before each walk COST: FREE for Members, Non-Members: $10 Interested in becoming a member? Simmer & Sip: Mulled Apple Cider Workshop
FeaturedLorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesCider and Spice and Everything Nice! Join us for a cozy fall event dedicated to the art of mulled cider. We'll walk through the essentials of pressing apples to make cider, building a spice blend, and simmering it all together while you sip, sample, and take notes along the way. By the end of class, you'll have a go-to recipe (and a warm mug) to bring home for the season. What to expect: A guided, hands-on cider-mulling demonstration Tastings of a few spice variations A take-home recipe card Warm company and good conversation COST: $35 Members, $35 Non-members IMPORTANT INFORMATION: This program is for children 12+ with a chaperone and adults Guests are welcome to bring their favorite snack to pair with their cider. Back Bay Birding by Boat on the Osprey
Miss Chris Marina - The Osprey 1212 Wilson Dr, Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesJoin Captain Bob and the crew of The Osprey for close-up looks at secretive rails, nesting Ospreys, migrant shorebirds, terns, gulls, herons and more. We explore the coastal saltmarsh of Cape May from Cape Island Creek to the Wildwoods and view the natural wonders of historic Cape May Harbor. The Osprey is a 37' pontoon boat that has a comfortable enclosed cabin with large viewing windows, a front deck with a railing, and a restroom on board. Non-motorized wheelchair accessible.
