Apple Cider Fall Festival
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesLorrimer Sanctuary is proud to announce the return of our Apple Cider Fall Festival! We love you a bushel and a peck, so we've brought back a Lorrimer fan favorite! Join us for Apple Cider Press Demos, Kids Crafts, Selfie Stations, and Nature Walks with help from our community and friends, we're looking forward to a wonderful day full of fun fall activities! COST: FREE. Pre-registration is required due to limited parking on-site. IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Dress appropriately for the weather. This program is entirely outdoors. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Monarch Tagging Demo
Cape May Point State Park - East Shelter NJ, United StatesJoin the Monarch Monitoring Project team to learn about the Monarch butterflies that migrate through Cape May, as well as the ongoing research and outreach our staff is doing to help protect the species. After the talk, watch as small tags are affixed to Monarchs to track their migration to Mexico. And best of all, you'll learn how you can contribute to Monarch conservation! Natural Habitats Trolley Tour
Washington Street Mall Info Booth Washington Street Mall at Ocean Street Cape May, NJ 08204, NJ, United StatesBeyond the charming Victorian homes and sandy beaches, Cape May is world famous for its birdwatching, monarch migration, and natural history. Join Cape May Bird Observatory naturalists on a trolley tour to local “natural habitats” (with exits at two spots), learning about the beauty, diversity, abundance (millions of birds, butterflies, and dragonflies pass through each year), geography, and extensive history of this amazing spectacle. Relax and be entertained in the birding capital of North America! Co-sponsored by New Jersey Audubon's Cape May Bird Observatory and the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts and Humanities. Twilight Walk

Immerse yourself in the beauty of nature as we embark on a leisurely stroll through the sanctuary's serene trails. As the sun sets, witness the magical transformation of the surroundings. Listen to the symphony of chirping birds and rustling leaves and breathe in the fresh fall air. This in-person event is a perfect opportunity to unwind, connect with nature, and rejuvenate your senses. So, grab your walking shoes and come experience the tranquility of Twilight Walk! This is an all-ages event. This event takes place entirely outside, please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather. Walking on gravel, trail and uneven ground. Intro to Nature Tech
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin Lorrimer Sanctuary for a Nature Tech Walk where we will be investigating our natural world using phone apps like iNaturalist, Seek, and Merlin to identify the birds, plants, and animals around us! Technology isn't so bad when you can use it to better your identification skills, sharpen your nature photography, keep track of your life list, or tune your ear to special bird call. We will be focusing on iNaturalist, Seek and Merlin for this program. This walk is intended for adults or families. Please bring either an Apple or Android device that can support application downloads. COST: $8 member, $10 Non-member. Nature Explorers – FALL 2023

Great for kids 4-10! Lorrimer Sanctuary invites families, friends, and nature lovers to join us for an exploration of our natural world. Enjoy watching your budding naturalist ‘go wild’ experiencing woodland adventures. Children use all their senses to safely explore and discover the wonders of nature here at Lorrimer Sanctuary. Children are introduced to nature concepts using a combination of storytelling, exploration and arts and crafts. It is educational and fun! Best for families with children 4-10. COST: $8 per child for members, $10 per child for nonmembers. NJ Audubon: Scary Diabolical Plants

From poisonous to causing allergies, this presentation is all about those scary plants. Join Dorothy for an illustrated program on plants that are poisonous, spiny, deadly, invasive, or illegal. We will also see plants that trap and eat insects and those that cause allergies. Vote on the scariest for Halloween! This program will be presented in person at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary and via Zoom. Please be sure to purchase the correct ticket. One person per ticket. Ticket sale ends 10/20 at 4:00 PM. Walk with a Naturalist

Walk on the wild side with Lorrimer this fall as we check out our forest throughout the season. Join our Teacher Naturalist, Mr. Mike for four unique experiences at Lorrimer Sanctuary as the forest transforms throughout fall and into winter. Come for one class or come for them all. This is an all-ages program so bring your curiosity and dress appropriately, this program takes place entirely outdoors.
