Native Tree ID

Learn about our native trees! Our naturalist will cover identification and ecology of some of the most unique trees on our property! Join a Lorrimer Sanctuary naturalist for a short hike as we talk about the native tree species that provide food and shelter for wildlife. Learn some tips and tricks for identifying common trees using leaves, bark, and twigs! COST: $8 members / $10 nonmembers IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Dress appropriately for the weather. This program is entirely outdoors. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: New Jersey counties are varied in their COVID-19 community transmission rates.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated or who wants additional protection should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. NJ Audubon Fall Tree and Shrub Walk

Join Naturalist Dorothy Smullen for a leisurely walk through our forest. Join Dorothy for a leisurely walk through our forest. Enjoy the changing colors and review tree and shrub identification. After the walk visit our Fall Native Plant Sale at 10:00 that features native trees and shrubs. Ticket sales end at 4:00 PM the day before the walk. Winter Sowing Workshop

If you've ever thought about sowing seeds for your garden over the winter but weren't sure where to start, this is the workshop for you! Did you know that many of our native plant seeds need to experience the cold to be able to germinate and bloom in the spring? Did you know you can start planting your garden in January? Join us to learn more about the process of starting your garden in winter and grow your native plant garden from seeds this season! We'll discuss our favorite native perennials and build our own winter sowing starter kit to take home out of recycled materials. Containers, native perennial seeds, and potting soil will be provided.
