Creative Hands Club: Block Printed Cloth Napkins

Create your own masterpiece to take home with you or give as a holiday gift for friends and family. Create, carve and block print your own design on a set of 4 cloth napkins with local artist, Janet Payne. Bring your own design ideas to class or be inspired by the natural grounds of the Nature Center. Simple designs work best, newcomers are always welcome. All materials provided. Using cloth napkins at home is an eco-friendly alternative to paper. A great gift idea too! Pre-registration is required. COST: $30 Members, $38 Non-member. Harbor Art Gallery Opening Reception – November 2022
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesHali MacLaren and John Safrit - Featured Artists at the Harbor Gallery in Cape May! The Harbor Gallery is pleased to announce their featured local artists for the month of November. Hali MacLaren and John Safrit will display their works with an opening reception to meet the artists on November 4th from 4-6pm. All artwork is for sale, with a portion of sales going to support the Nature Center of Cape May. Light refreshments will be served. The show will remain on exhibit at the Harbor Gallery for the entire month. Location: The Harbor Gallery is located at New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May at 1600 Delaware Ave, Cape May. The Nature Center will follow all CDC Covid safety guidelines.

Join West Cape May artist Carla Schaeffer in upcycling denim jeans into fun and lightweight bohemian denim earrings. We will cut up jeans and use a metal grommet tool to create earrings that we can either keep plain or decorate and embellish with lace, ribbon, and crafting gems. Pre-registration is required. Estimates suggest there are over 5 million species of fungi, with only a small portion of those being identified. We will explore our past, present and future connections to fungi, understand the basic types of mushrooms and their key characteristics and eco-functions. Learn about growing cultivated mushrooms and make a small oyster mushroom farm to take home. Led by Linda Conover of Woodsong Mushrooms. Pre-registration is required. Using seashells such as scallops, oyster or clam students will embellish with decorative papers and gold paint. They are fun, trendy and simple to do. Use them as a trinket dish or string them up for ornaments. Led by Center Director Gretchen Whitman, make one for yourselves and several to give as gifts. Pre-registration is required. Glass on glass with Tina Giaimo is back again by popular demand and this time we're doing Sea Creatures! Day one we will cut and glue our glass onto glass in a frame & class time can be extended if needed. Your choice of designing a Seahorse, crab, whale or a dolphin and several templates will be provided. Day two it's prep and grout so class time will be shorter. Holiday Wreath, Garland and Table Décor Workshops
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesUsing fresh evergreens, create a handcrafted wreath, garland and table decorations of distinction that will rival those gracing the pages of expensive specialty catalogs. The process is easy to learn, and even beginners leave with impressive creations. Greenery and wire are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own special decorations. Due to COVID-19-safety protocols this year we strongly recommend you bring your own pruning shears and gloves. Also, please dress warmly as these classes may have to be held outdoors on picnic tables. Masks will be required to be worn during the entire session. Sessions are limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration is a must. If you have a large group, you can arrange for a private event! NOTE: We will need plenty of fresh evergreens for these workshops. If anyone has evergreens from their yard to donate, please call the Nature Center of Cape May at 609.427.3045 to arrange for delivery or pick up. Thank you! Holiday Artist Marketplace Pop-Up Sale
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesAt our version of the famous Christmas Markets of Germany (Weihnachtmarkt), we will offer a pop-up sale featuring local Cape May artists and their original, hand-crafted wares. Affordable prices of these unique works of art will be available to participants in our wreath workshops as well as others who stop by for this outdoor “open house”. The fire pit will be roaring to fend off the chill with a hot chocolate station to warm your tummy. Proceeds go directly to support our artist friends who have been so generous to us through volunteering and providing donations to our fundraisers.
