Earth Day and Marine Debris Clean Up
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesLearn about wildlife gardening and other basic maintenance chores while you assist Nature Center staff and volunteers in sprucing up the gardens for spring.  We’ll plant, mulch, deadhead, weed, and prune throughout the Center's grounds and along the harbor.  This date coincides with Clean Ocean Action's annual Beach Sweeps.  Join us at the Nature Center to help clean our ocean and harbor beaches here in Cape May.  Our Earth Day Clean-Up is a great community service project for your civic organization or scout group.  We ask that you bring along your own tools (our supply is limited).  Refreshments will be provided. Pre-registration NOT required. If you plan to bring a large group, we would appreciate a call ahead of time. Contact Gretchen Whitman at (609) 400-3839. COST: FREE! Creative Hands Club: Projects for the Birder’s Garden

We will make a flowerpot seed bell, a woodpecker wonderboard, and a variety of self-made feeders using recycled objects. Pre-registration is required. COST: $30 Members, $38 Non-member. Spring Break Outside!

Flowers are starting to bloom; insects are starting to buzz, and birds are migrating north. Each day will be filled with adventure as we welcome signs of spring through hands-on exploration, creative projects, and all-around fun! Pre-registration is required. DETAILS: This is a drop-off program for children in grades 1-5. Monday-Friday; 9:00am to 12:00pm. Spring Seed Starting 101
Cape May Point Science Center 101 Lehigh Ave, Cape May Point, NJ, United StatesJoin us for our Spring Seed Starting 101 program, sponsored by the Diane Cornell Wildlife Garden Project! Jen Sawyer from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension will be presenting on the dos and don’ts for preparing your spring garden, followed by a hand-on seed starting workshop. By the end of this free program, you will be armed with new gardening tricks and seedlings that are ready to go into your garden when the time is right! Native Plant Sale
NJ, United StatesYour gardens will be the buzz, tweet, and talk of the neighborhood when you get off to a good start with top-quality plants.  We emphasize the use of New Jersey native plants, which benefit wildlife and have a strong aesthetic appeal for your landscape.  Some non-natives (but non-invasive) perennials and annuals, which offer an added boost to butterfly gardens, will also be available. We have three NJ locations having native plants sales on May 6th They are Lorrimer Nature Sanctuary in Franklin Lakes, Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary in Bernardsville and Nature Center of Cape May in Cape May.
