Harbor Art Gallery Opening Reception – September 2022
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesLaura Starrett and Louise Zemaitis - Featured Artists at the Harbor Gallery in Cape May! The Harbor Gallery is pleased to announce their featured local artists for the month of September. Laura Starrett and Louise Zemaitis will display their works with an opening reception to meet the artists on September 2nd from 4-6pm. All artwork is for sale, with a portion of sales going to support the Nature Center of Cape May. Light refreshments will be served. The show will remain on exhibit at the Harbor Gallery for the entire month. Location: The Harbor Gallery is located at New Jersey Audubon’s Nature Center of Cape May at 1600 Delaware Ave, Cape May. The Nature Center will follow all CDC Covid safety guidelines.
Nuts in a Nutshell
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesDiscover which species of local trees produce nuts, how/when to harvest the nuts, and whether or not they make a good snack! Crack open some nuts, conducting a dissection to understand their design and purpose in nature. Use nuts/nutshells to create a natural art project to take home with you. Monarch Butterfly Nature Art Workshop

Explore the unique process of printing tree cross sections and flowers, and then get creative with watercolor paints as you use butterfly templates* to paint Monarchs fluttering through your artwork. Monarch Festival at the Nature Center of Cape May

Enjoy music, food, and monarch tagging demonstrations. Make a craft to take home along with a monarch-themed souvenir from a local vendor. Discover what you can do to help protect these beautiful butterflies! Schedule of Events: All day: Breakfast and lunch provided by Mac’s Food Truck. 10am: Butterfly yoga with itswell yoga 11am-1pm: Live music by Kearns and Donahue 12pm-4pm: Facepainting with Justine Arzio 1pm-3pm: Live music by Wesley Ochs 1:30pm: Pop-up book signing with Sylvia Baer 3:00pm: Migration parade! Diane Cornell Wildlife Garden Project Event
Classroom/Education Building - Cape May Point State Park NJ, United StatesPlease join us for the first Diane Cornell Wildlife Garden Project Event! Have you been wanting to learn how to transform your backyard habitat to benefit native species? This dual event will provide you with all the information you need to get started! First, learn from local expert, Pat Sutton, who will be presenting on the importance of gardening for wildlife. The presentation will be followed by a guided walk through Cape May Point visiting a few backyard habitats that have been certified by the National Wildlife Federation. Kristin Hock, New Jersey Audubon’s Habitat Outreach Coordinator, will be joining us on the walk to educate guests on how they can get their backyards certified. Create your own masterpiece to take home with you or give as a holiday gift for friends and family. This one's for the books! Program Director, Emily Wilmoth will guide you through creating a unique, upcycled decoration for the fall season. We will hand cut old and forgotten paperback books into vintage style pumpkins. Decorate with a combination of paint, twine, cork stems and other embellishments. Bring your own book or use one of ours! Pre-registration is required. COST: $30 Members, $38 Non-member. Nighttime at the Nature Center
