Nuts in a Nutshell

Discover which species of local trees produce nuts, how/when to harvest the nuts, and whether or not they make a good snack! Crack open some nuts, conducting a dissection to understand their design and purpose in nature. Use nuts/nutshells to create a natural art project to take home with you. Optional: pack a lunch and stay for a picnic after the program! Pre-registration is required WHERE:  At the Nature Center of Cape May, 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Monarch Butterfly Nature Art Workshop

Celebrate the migration of Monarch Butterflies and connect with nature by creating your own handmade notebook, and bookmark or cards. Explore the unique process of printing tree cross sections and flowers, and then get creative with watercolor paints as you use butterfly templates* to paint Monarchs fluttering through your artwork. Nighttime at the Nature Center

Who is hanging around the nature center after hours? Get acquainted with the nocturnal creatures flying around the Cape May skies at night. We will set up a moth observation station, dissect owl pellets, and use gadgets to monitor bat movement. Hot chocolate will be served to keep us warm!
