Enjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff or Associate Naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. Registration required by 4:00 PM the day before the walk. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. For kids 4-8 years old. Lorrimer Sanctuary invites families, friends, and nature lovers to join us for an exploration of our natural world. Enjoy watching your budding naturalist ‘go wild’ experiencing woodland adventures. Children use all their senses to safely explore and discover the wonders of nature here at Lorrimer Sanctuary. Children are introduced to nature concepts using a combination of storytelling, exploration and arts and crafts. It is educational and fun! Best for families with children 4-8 years old. Forest Therapy
Lorrimer Sanctuary 790 Ewing Avenue, Franklin Lakes, NJ, United StatesJoin us for a Guided Forest Bathing Walk with Rebecca Stokes, certified Forest Therapy Guide! Forest therapy is inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin Yoku, or forest bathing. It is a practice that supports health and wellness through guided immersion in nature. Forest therapy is a slow walk where people are guided through a sequence of invitations to slow down, be present with our senses, and experience the natural environment. Research studies have shown the practice of forest bathing has many benefits. The impact on our health is substantial: lowering blood pressure, boosting immune function, improving quality of sleep, and decreasing stress & anxiety. The practice of forest therapy creates a path to reconnect and deepen the relationship to nature, to others, to our communities, and to ourselves. The health of nature and the health of people are woven together. Rebecca is a certified Forest Therapy Guide through the Association of Nature & Forest Therapy. She strives to live a life that honors the connection between nature and people. Rebecca has worked in human resources roles for over 15 years. COST: $20 What to wear: Comfortable clothing and covered sturdy shoes. Please dress accordingly for the weather. Important information: Guided walks for adults.
