  • NJ Audubon: Fly Tying Workshop for Beginners

    Led by Angus Macaulay, Teacher Naturalist Nothing matches the satisfaction of catching a fish on a fly you’ve tied yourself. Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn how to tie fly patterns proven to be effective on local waters. A discussion of stream ecology and entomology will be woven throughout the session. This program is geared toward beginner level fly tyers – no experience necessary. All tools & materials are included, and the flies are yours to keep. Participants that have their own vise and tools are encouraged to bring them for the best learning experience. This is an indoor workshop. There is a limit of 9 participants so sign up early to get a spot!  For ages 12 to adult. Registration required by 02/07 at 4:00 PM. COST: $20 members, $30 nonmembers Interested in becoming a member? Hawk Rise is home to countless plant species – both native and exotic. Join us on the trail where we will identify as many plants as we can and discuss what we find. Downloading an identification app such as iNaturalist is helpful but not required. This program is appropriate for individuals of all ages. Come dressed for the weather.
