Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesCalling all future naturalists! Join us at the Nature Center of Cape May for a nature-inspired “Grown-up & Me” program. We will read books, explore nature with hands-on sensory activities, and have fun! This program is best suited for children 18 months - 3.5 years old. We will be exploring nature hands-on; children may get wet and/or dirty. Weather permitting, we may spend a portion of this program outside. Please dress accordingly. Registration is required. An adult must accompany children. SCHEDULE: February 3rd: Bird Houses February 10th: Bird Nests February 17th: Bird Feeders February 24th: Build-a-Bird COST: $8 per child (NJA Members), $10 per child (Non-members) MEETING LOCATION: Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, New Jersey. Meet 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the program. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. Bring your love and your binoculars to this free guided bird walk! We're hoping to get your heart soaring for birdwatching as we chat about beginner techniques and look for early nesters. This program takes place entirely outside, please dress appropriately. Extra binoculars will be available to borrow. Join NJ Audubon staff naturalists as we discover how maple syrup is made! Using the maple trees found on the Lorrimer Sanctuary property, participants will move through all of the steps necessary for making homemade maple syrup. Get ready to drill a spile in the tree, collect the sap, boil it down, and taste the sweet syrup! NJ Audubon: Fly Tying Workshop for Beginners
Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Rd, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Angus Macaulay, Teacher Naturalist Nothing matches the satisfaction of catching a fish on a fly you’ve tied yourself. Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn how to tie fly patterns proven to be effective on local waters. A discussion of stream ecology and entomology will be woven throughout the session. This program is geared toward beginner level fly tyers – no experience necessary. All tools & materials are included, and the flies are yours to keep. Participants that have their own vise and tools are encouraged to bring them for the best learning experience. This is an indoor workshop.
