Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesCalling all future naturalists! Join us at the Nature Center of Cape May for a nature-inspired “Grown-up & Me” program. We will read books, explore nature with hands-on sensory activities, and have fun! This program is best suited for children 18 months - 3.5 years old. We will be exploring nature hands-on; children may get wet and/or dirty. Weather permitting, we may spend a portion of this program outside. Please dress accordingly. Registration is required. An adult must accompany children. SCHEDULE: January 6th: Foxes January 13th: River Otters January 20th: Squirrels January 27th: Deer COST: $8 per child (NJA Members), $10 per child (Non-members) MEETING LOCATION: Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, New Jersey. Meet 5-10 minutes prior to the start of the program. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Featured Nighttime on the BeachSigns of Winter: Nature Sensory Stroll
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesDon’t let the chilly winter months keep you from spending time outside! Bundle up and join us for a family-friendly, sensory-focused nature walk! We will take a gentle stroll around the nature center trails, focusing on the sights, sounds, and textures of winter. We will identify trees, search for signs of wildlife, and collect a few natural treasures along the way. Note: We may walk up to a mile, over generally level surfaces. Some surfaces may be muddy or uneven. Please dress warmly and wear sturdy footwear. Pre-registration is required. Animals are all around us, even in our own backyards! Animals leave behind signs they’ve visited, and clues for us to study. Indoors we'll observe insect galls and mammal scat, then outdoors we'll go for a walk to look for signs and tracks. Along the way they stop in New Jersey where the males perform an amazing song and dance routine to attract a mate. This PowerPoint presentation will explore how to identify Woodcocks, their migration, habitat requirements, mating performance, and how and where to find them. NJ Audubon: Fly Tying Workshop for Beginners

Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn how to tie fly patterns proven to be effective on local waters. A discussion of stream ecology and entomology will be woven throughout the session. This program is geared toward beginner level fly tyers – no experience necessary. All tools & materials are included, and the flies are yours to keep. Participants that have their own vise and tools are encouraged to bring them for the best learning experience. This is an indoor workshop.
