Explore edge and meadow habitats for fall migrants with an easy walk through the reservation. Meet in the parking area next to the ball field. We will also explore the restored meadow habitat for Bluebirds as well as butterflies and other insects. This is the right time to discover fall migrants as they head south.  Becker Farm dates back to 1880 when it was a farm. Over the years this farm added its famous railroad which entertained families for over 30 years. The now abandoned farm is a great place to spot grassland birds. Branch Brook Park Birding Walk

This iconic urban park can work as a “migrant trap” in fall migration, with chances to see warblers and other birds up close. Explore an iconic urban park. This is the right time to discover fall migrants as they make their way south. Led by Dave Hall, Associate Naturalist Branch Brook Park is distinguished by being the first county park to be opened for public use in the United States. It has been placed on both the New Jersey (1980) and National (1981) Registers of Historic Places. Named for a branch brook that flowed through the valley into the Passaic River, the stream that remains, and much of the surrounding landscape, still retain a natural appearance. More than 4,000 cherry trees that blossom during April are greater both in variety and number than the famed Washington, D.C., display—the result of a 1927 gift from Mrs. Felix Fuld family. At its height the Cherry Blossom Festival attracts over 10,000 people a day. Troy Meadows in Parsippany/East Hanover is an excellent place to encounter ducks, herons, and marsh birds, plus migrating passerines. Footing can be wet.  Led by David Hall. South Mountain Reservation Birding Meander

South Mountain Reservation - Oakdale Lot just past the Regatta Playground on the left coming from Northfield Ave side. Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane, Cherry Lane, West Orange, NJ, United States

We will hike several trails in search of late fall migrants. Target species include both woodland passerines and ducks on the reservoir.
