NJ Audubon Digital Photography Workshop 4: Editing Tools
Instructor: Jack Moskowitz This in-person workshop will focus on integrating Lightroom into a Photoshop workflow. More and more photographers are using Lightroom to organize and process their images. However, Photoshop allows the photographer to easily accomplish image editing that would be difficult in Lightroom. In this workshop students will learn how to integrate Lightroom/Bridge/Adobe Camera RAW/Photoshop into a combined workflow. Participants are encouraged to email one image (preferably RAW) for editing demonstrations. One person per ticket. Ticket sale ends on 1/6/23 at 5:00 PM. COST: $12 members, $25 nonmembers. Winter Sowing Workshop
If you've ever thought about sowing seeds for your garden over the winter but weren't sure where to start, this is the workshop for you! Did you know that many of our native plant seeds need to experience the cold to be able to germinate and bloom in the spring? Did you know you can start planting your garden in January? Join us to learn more about the process of starting your garden in winter and grow your native plant garden from seeds this season! We'll discuss our favorite native perennials and build our own winter sowing starter kit to take home out of recycled materials. Containers, native perennial seeds, and potting soil will be provided. The Best of Winter Birding – Eagles, Owls, Ducks and More!
Join CMBO Director Brett Ewald for a two-day winter birding workshop exploring all Cape May County has to offer! Southern NJ provides incredible winter birding! With over ten species of diurnal raptors (hawks and owls) and twenty-five species of waterfowl possible, there is so much to see and appreciate, set in some of the most beautiful and remote landscapes on the Eastern Seaboard. While we’ll focus on these groups of birds, we’ll also take time to enjoy shorebirds, gulls, gannets, sparrows are more on this in-the-field workshop. Past years have featured Rough-legged Hawks, Short-eared Owls, and eiders. We don’t pre-set an itinerary, but will explore parts of Cape May County, Forsythe NWR (Atlantic County), and the Delaware Bayshore northward into Cumberland County, depending on weather conditions, tide times and sightings reports. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED COST: $150 members, $200 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? Be sure to check the forecast in advance and dress in layers appropriate for prevailing weather conditions. The weather in Cape May can differ considerably from nearby inland areas and may be warmer, colder, or windier so it’s best to be over prepared. We may have to bird in the rain, so please bring your rain gear. TRANSPORTATION: Please arrive at the appointed time with a full tank of gas, as transportation to field sites is by private vehicles. We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties. Led by Stephanie Punnett, Program Director. Residential landscapes are becoming increasingly important for the survival of native pollinators and other wildlife and can be home for both humans and wildlife. In this workshop we’ll show you how to create a wildlife garden, and a simple way to start native plants from seed. You will make your own low-cost mini greenhouse from recycled materials and plant your choice of seeds to take home. Make a pollinator home for native bees to take home. All materials provided.
