Join the Nature Center of Cape May for an hour and a half of junk journalling. Meet new friends and create sustainable collage-style journal spreads using everyday “trash”! We will guide and inspire you throughout the entire process. All experience levels welcome. What to bring: a journal or notebook, any collected pieces of ‘junk’ (think receipts, ticket stubs, packaging, paper/stickers) that you stumble upon in your daily happenings. What we provide: all the necessary crafting supplies, lite refreshments, inspiration, music, and good vibes! BYOB welcome. Pre-registration is required. Instructor: David DesRochers, Associate Naturalist This program will focus on techniques for finding and capturing unique images of the endless natural art our planet has to offer. Subjects covered include equipment, planning, composition, and capture. In addition, the program will cover photo editing techniques used to process landscape images using Adobe Camera RAW, Photoshop, and NIK Plug Ins. Students are encouraged to bring a flashdrive with two images (preferably RAW) for review and discussion. Registration required, ticket sales end on 02/13/26 at 4:00 PM. Led by Stephanie Punnett, Program Director Entice bluebirds to your backyard with a nest box to raise their young! Eastern Bluebirds are great insect eaters. In this workshop you will assemble a nest box from a kit and learn how to maintain your nest box. We’ll look at several ways to mount your nest box in your yard. Led by Angus Macaulay, Teacher Naturalist Nothing matches the satisfaction of catching a fish on a fly you’ve tied yourself. Join us for a hands-on workshop to learn how to tie fly patterns proven to be effective on local waters. A discussion of stream ecology and entomology will be woven throughout the session. This program is geared toward beginner level fly tyers – no experience necessary. All tools & materials are included, and the flies are yours to keep. Participants that have their own vise and tools are encouraged to bring them for the best learning experience. This is an indoor workshop.
