Harbor Safari
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesJoin Nature Center of Cape May naturalists to unveil the flora and fauna lurking within the Cape May Harbor. Encounter an incredible diversity of marine life as you help pull a twenty-foot seine net through the shallows of the harbor. You will learn about the ecology of our coastal waters, the natural history of the land, and examine the fascinating & ancient Horseshoe Crab. Perfect for families! Pre-registration is required. Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. WHEN: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 10:30am-12:00pm WHERE: Meet 5-10 minutes before your program time on the second floor of the Trucksess Welcome Center at 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, 08204. Free parking is available along Delaware Avenue. COST: $10/children, $12/adults IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over rocky and sandy area. Please bring necessary footwear, sunscreen, bug spray, water bottle, and other belongings with you that you may need. Junior Naturalists Club (Afterschool Spring Session)

Designed to be a continuation from our younger student afterschool program, the Junior Naturalists Club is meant for kids ages 8-12. During this hour-long program, we will get hands-on discovering nature through outdoor exploration, arts and crafts, science experiments, and more. This is a drop-off program. Homeschoolers welcome! COST: $9 per child for members $11 per child for nonmembers, $90 Member Child (All Session Ticket) $110 Non-Member Child (All Session Ticket) Registration ends at 5 pm the day before each event! Nighttime on the Beach

Get your flashlights out and meet a Nature Center Naturalist on the beach for an hour of ghost crab chasing! Learn about ghost crab habitat, how they move, and what they eat. Birding the Ocean City Rookery
Featured Birding the Ocean City RookeryOcean City Welcome Center 300 W 9th Street, Ocean City, NJ, United StatesThe Ocean City Welcome Center has become a must-see breeding bird destination. Join our Volunteer Naturalists for great views of nesting wading birds, including Great Blue and Little Blue herons, Yellow-crowned and Black-crowned night-herons, Great and Snowy egrets, Glossy and White ibis - all building and sitting on nests. The raised parking lot of the Welcome Center provides very close views of the birds, so be sure to bring your camera to try to capture some amazing photos! The group will spend time viewing these birds from the bridge overlook, as well as taking a short walk underneath the bridge to view the birds at eye level. Our Naturalists will provide scopes for participants, but bringing your own scope is encouraged. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $10 General Admission Interested in becoming a member? DISTANCE COVERED: Very short distance from parked car to walkway with railing overlooking rookery, followed by a short walk underneath the bridge. ACCESSIBILITY: You arrive at a paved parking lot on the upper viewing level. A lower level is available for viewing at ground level via stairs and ramp. Restrooms inside Welcome Center. Notes: The Welcome Center exit takes you into Ocean City. Once in town you can go around a block to get back onto the outbound road. Gnats may be a problem. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. There will be no walk on 7/4. Registration required by 3:00 PM the day before each walk. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. IN-PERSON Nature Infused Yoga with NJ Audubon
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Kristen Mylecraine, Yoga Teacher and NJ Audubon Senior Research Scientist Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat. For ages 15 years and older. This workshop will be held outdoors when the weather is suitable. During inclement weather it will be held indoors. Ticket sale ends on the day of each class at 10:45 AM. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. There will be no classes 7/4. COST: $15 members, $20 nonmembers.
