Beachcombing the Cove
Sunset Pavilion 62 Beach Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesWalk the Cove with a local naturalist and discover the gifts the sea leaves behind at the water's edge. Explore one of the area’s ever-changing coastal habitats — the beach, ocean, and dunes of Cape May’s “The Cove” beach. We’ll search the shallows, comb the shoreline for treasures, and walk along the dunes in search of wildlife. WHERE: Meet at the flagpole near the Pavilion at the end of promenade by the Cove beach. WHEN: Wednesday mornings. 8:30 A.M.-9:30 A.M. WHO CAN JOIN?: A wonderful program for the whole family! Children may not participate without an adult. Contact us at 609.427.3045 for private group tours and rates. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: Water, sun and insect protectant. Masks required. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: Effective June 4, 2021, fully vaccinated people may attend outdoor programs without masks. If you are unvaccinated, please mask up. Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CANCELLATION POLICY: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Sorry, no refund for cancellations less than 48 hours in advance unless due to health emergencies; however registrations can be transferred to another program in the future. REGISTER HERE
Nighttime on the Beach
Mount Vernon Avenue Mount Vernon Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesMeet a Nature Center Naturalist on the beach for an hour of ghost crab hunting! Learn about ghost crab habitat, how they move, and what they eat. Do you think you can catch one? Discover what other creatures are on the beach at night. Pre-registration required. WHERE: Meet at the end of Mount Vernon Avenue near the end of the Promenade in Cape May. WHEN: Thursday evenings. 8:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M. WHO CAN JOIN?: A wonderful family program! Children may not participate without an adult. EQUIPMENT NEEDED: We will provide at least 1 "Ghost Crab Catcher 5000" Flashlights (Cell phone flashlights work too!)
