Grab your binoculars, it's spring migration! As the days warm, join us for a morning walk as we search for migrating birds like warblers! Learn how to identify and listen for bird species of all kinds during this hour-long birding program. From March-May, we'll walk the trails at Lorrimer Sanctuary looking for birds of all kinds including beautiful migratory warbler species that will only stopover in NJ for a short time on their way north. This program is open to all birders, from beginner to experienced! Dress appropriately for the weather! We will be outdoors the entire time. COST: $8 members / $10 nonmembers IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Dress for the weather. This program is entirely outdoors. NEW JERSEY AUDUBON'S PROGRAM GUIDELINES: All NJ counties are considered medium to low COVID-19 community levels.  New Jersey Audubon highly recommends that anyone who is not fully vaccinated, wants additional protection, or comes from a higher community level area should consider wearing a mask and social distancing, especially indoors.  Please do not come to a program if you are sick, have a sick family member or have reason to believe you may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CANCELLATION: NJ Audubon’s programs require a minimum number of registrants to run. If we cancel, due to lack of participation, severe weather, or unforeseen circumstances, all participants will be notified as soon as possible and are eligible for a full refund. Participants may cancel without penalty if greater than 48 hours in advance. Garrett Mountain Reservation - Three-Tiered Parking Lot Garrett Mountain Reservation, Woodland Park, NJ, United States

Spring migration at one of the state’s best migrant traps. Lots of songbirds including thrushes, vireos, sparrows, and warblers. Garret Mountain can be a terrific spot for songbird migration in spring, and its location on the Watchung Ridge means some days there are raptors overhead as well. Be prepared for 4 hours of leisurely walking over uneven terrain. Led by Carole Hughes and Chris Daly. A NOTE ON MEETING LOCATION! Please use 8 Mountain Ave, Woodland Park, NJ as a navigation address. Once you enter the park from Mountain Ave, go right (it’s a one-way road), and the meeting place/parking lot is the first lot immediately on your left. Bring your little naturalist for a nature-based program featuring a story, a mini-hike, outdoor activity, and a craft. Each class will focus on an aspect of the natural world, and the story and activity will highlight the theme. This class will meet every Thursday morning, 10:00 to 11:00, May 5 to June 9. For children ages 3 - 5 and one parent or caregiver. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. Ticket sales ends at 9:00 AM on the Wednesday before each class. Spring migration at the hook; we may see a wide range of species from wading birds to raptors to songbirds at this regional hotspot. Spring birding at the hook for migrants. The wide variety of habitats here ensures a good diversity of bird species from herons and egrets to shorebirds, hawks, and songbirds. Be prepared for a fair amount of walking over flat and sometimes sandy terrain. Meet at parking lot B by the bathrooms. Led by Scott Barnes and Linda Mack. Join CMBO naturalists for this 2-hour afternoon walk around The Nature Conservancy's South Cape May Meadows property! Seasonally flooded ponds attract ducks and shorebirds, while beach nesters like Least Terns and American Oystercatchers will be back and busy SPOTTING SCOPES ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR THIS TRIP PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. TRANSPORTATION: We may walk up to 1.5 miles, over generally level, sometimes muddy or sandy terrain. Some trips involve walks over jetties.
