Holiday Wreath, Garland and Table Décor Workshops
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesUsing fresh evergreens, create a handcrafted wreath, garland and table decorations of distinction that will rival those gracing the pages of expensive specialty catalogs. The process is easy to learn, and even beginners leave with impressive creations. Greenery and wire are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own special decorations. Due to COVID-19-safety protocols this year we strongly recommend you bring your own pruning shears and gloves. Also, please dress warmly as these classes may have to be held outdoors on picnic tables. Masks will be required to be worn during the entire session. Sessions are limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration is a must. If you have a large group, you can arrange for a private event! NOTE: We will need plenty of fresh evergreens for these workshops. If anyone has evergreens from their yard to donate, please call the Nature Center of Cape May at 609.427.3045 to arrange for delivery or pick up. Thank you! Holiday Artist Marketplace Pop-Up Sale
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesAt our version of the famous Christmas Markets of Germany (Weihnachtmarkt), we will offer a pop-up sale featuring local Cape May artists and their original, hand-crafted wares. Affordable prices of these unique works of art will be available to participants in our wreath workshops as well as others who stop by for this outdoor “open house”. The fire pit will be roaring to fend off the chill with a hot chocolate station to warm your tummy. Proceeds go directly to support our artist friends who have been so generous to us through volunteering and providing donations to our fundraisers. Quilling for the Holidays

Creative Hands Club: Decorative Boxes
Nature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesCreate a beautiful decorative box as a gift or for yourself using patterned paper, jewels, beads, buttons, images, fabric, and felt. Led by local artist, Penelope Cake. A huge variety of materials from her studio will be available to choose from. You may also bring your own images and other elements if you would like to include them. Holiday themes can be accommodated using seasonal cards and small ornaments. Pre-registration is required. A great choice for your 3–6-year old's! *Free to apply! * Looking for a way to add nature learning to your little one's week? Join New Jersey Audubon Staff as we use local phenomena to explore the world around us. Children will spend their time outdoors on the Lorrimer Sanctuary property bouncing between hands-on, inquiry-based activities and free-play to help them develop their own understanding of the natural world. We will use Nature as a guide during this twice weekly program over a period of eight weeks. Lessons will include activities focused on natural history topics, a story and craft, age-appropriate risk taking, all with attention to mindfulness and fun. *NO COST TO APPLY! * Children must be a minimum of 3 to enroll and cannot be older than 6 years old to participate. All children in Muddy Hands Academy must be potty-trained and bathroom independent. The Muddy Hands Academy utilizes a Nature Preschool model with children spending as much time as possible outdoors. Children should be prepared for the weather including wet and muddy conditions. Class sizes are limited to 5 children per session. Birding Cape May Point
Cape May Point State Park Hawkwatch Platform NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for 2 hours of birding around beautiful Cape May Point! Crossbills, siskins, redpolls – oh, my! Winter can be such a special time to bird Cape May Point. Each week we’ll scour the Park or wander the streets to see what avian visitors are calling Cape May Point their winter home. The winter finch prediction sounds promising, the ponds are full of ducks, and loons and scoters are on the move. Our path may take us through the quiet streets of Cape May Point, visiting local feeders. Or maybe we’ll travel along the dunes to check the morning flight line. Lily Lake and the Northwood Center often hold wintering songbirds and, of course, the State Park is always good. So let us add some joy to your winter – join us every Saturday for 2 hours of birding around Cape May Point. PREREGISTRATION REQUIRED. COST: $8 members, $12 nonmembers. IN-PERSON Nature Infused Yoga with NJ Audubon

Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. For ages 15 years and older. Preregistration is required. Ticket sales end at 4:30 PM on the Friday before each class. You must pre-register, walk-ins will not be allowed to participate. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously.
