Atkinson began her career as a professional illustrator, creating concept-driven imagery for book covers and editorial publications, where she became known for translating complex ideas into compelling visual narratives. She later transitioned to fine art, working primarily in oil, balancing subtle storytelling with expressive, painterly techniques. Her work has been recognized by Communication Arts, the Society of Illustrators, the Hispanic Creative Awards, and Print Design Annual. In 2026, she was selected for juried exhibitions including Visions: AAPL at the Carriage Barn Arts Center, the James Library & Center for the Arts 7th Annual Spring Show, and the Jackson's Art Prize 2026 Extended Long List. Cox Hall Creek WMA Shawmont Avenue, Villas, NJ, United StatesJoin CMBO naturalists for 2 hours of birding around this 253-acre state wildlife management area, formerly a golf course! Trails include easy-walking asphalt paths traversing meadows, open woods, numerous ponds and wet woods along Cox Hall Creek. Good for woodpeckers, Pine Warblers and other early migrants. Consider attending our Learning the Birds by Song class with Randy Little immediately following the walk at 1:00 PM for more bird learning! NJ Audubon Learning the Birds by Song Series
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Randy Little, Associate Naturalist For beginners and those with some experience, this birding-by-ear series will improve your bird identification skills. More often than not, birds are heard before they are seen (if seen at all!) Learning their songs will add another dimension to your birdwatching. Randy Little is a former NJA board member and long-time NJA volunteer. Randy learned birding as a youngster under the wings of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology’s founders and is a master at recording bird songs for the Cornell Lab. This series will begin Sunday March 15 and continue Sunday afternoons until April 26; there will be no class April 5. March 15 & 22 classes will cover the winter resident birds, March 29 & April 12 classes will cover the early migrant birds, and April 19 & 26 classes will cover the summer resident birds. Registration and fee are per class. You must pre-register for each class you wish to attend. Ticket sale for each class ends at 4:00 PM on the day before each class. Pollinator Party!
FeaturedNature Center of Cape May 1600 Delaware Avenue, Cape May, NJ, United StatesLet’s have a party for our pollinators who are back to work this spring. Participate in pollinator-themed crafts and games and learn to do the waggle dance. Take a guided walk through our native plant garden to see what’s in bloom and who is buzzing around. Enjoy a cup of herbal tea or apple juice and a honey lollipop, all courtesy of our pollinator friends. This is an open house style event-come any time between 3-5pm and stay for as long as you'd like! COST: This is a FREE event, but we highly encourage a donation to support the Nature Center of Cape May.
