Fall Migrants at the Rea Farm – October 26, 2024

Leaders: Kathy Horn, Roger Horn, Bernie Hodgdon

Temp: 59° F

Winds:  NW 9 mph

Weather Conditions: Some clouds, ended sunny

The Beanery is a great place for sparrows in late October and November and we had a lot of them there this morning. In addition to great comparison looks at White-throated, Song, Savannah and lots of Swamp Sparrows, we had a cooperative Vesper Sparrow sitting up long enough to get good views. A Merlin perched atop one of the large trees, feeding on its prey. We had a fly-by Peregrine Falcon, and a group of Rusty Blackbirds perched along the pond edge in good morning light. Robins were constantly streaming overhead and, of course, there were lots of Yellow-rumped Warblers.
