The Sandy Hook Century Run / All Things Birds World Series of Birding Team Highlight

We are looking forward to this year’s Sandy Hook Century Run-All Things Birds as part of the World Series of Birding! We’ll spend the day searching Sandy Hook’s varied habitats for a wide variety of species. Some team members will be participating from other areas and states, adding to our fundraising for All Things Birds. On behalf of my associate naturalists, we hope you can participate and pledge our most important fundraiser of the year for NJ Audubon. I am grateful for your donations and for your help in spreading the word.

Money raised through the Sandy Hook Century Run supports All Things Birds. ATB fosters interest in birding and the outdoors around the state, from urban parks in Linden and Woodbridge through coastal parks and refuges, to rural regions in the southwestern part of the garden state. I’m fortunate to have a talented core of volunteers who help make this possible through scores of outdoor field trips year-round, engaging and educating people about the natural treasures that we share and do our best to protect. All Things Birds is also a principal driver of the New Jersey Young Birders Club, which connects youth interested in birds and nature. We do this through monthly field trips, youth volunteering opportunities, and mentoring at NJ Audubon’s formal bird migration counts. Several of our club “graduates” have gone on to earn science degrees from ivy league universities while others begin to earn their wings as field trip leaders in their own right, co-leading on birding festivals and pelagic trips.
