Lake Assunpink Boat Launch NJ, United States

Waterfowl, wintering thrushes, sparrows, and other land birds at this productive central jersey hotspot. This productive locale has a mix of fields, woods, wetlands, and lakes. We may see a good variety of waterfowl, sparrows, and other land birds. In recent years a pair of Trumpeter Swans has wintered here. Bring binoculars, spotting scope if you have one, warm clothing, and lunch. Meet at the Lake Assunpink Boat Launch just north of the intersection of Imlaystown Rd and Clarksburg-Robbinsville Rd. NOTE: there are no restrooms at Assunpink, so plan accordingly. Sometimes there is one port-a-john available. Led by Scott Barnes and Linda Mack. This productive locale has a mix of fields, woods, wetlands, and lakes. Spring songbird migrants plus breeding species including Yellow-billed and Black-billed Cuckoos, Yellow-breasted Chat and more. We’ll check the lake and adjacent wetlands for waterbirds. Bring lunch and be prepared for a moderate amount of walking over varied terrain.
