Since the early days of photography, landscape photographers have been exploring our planet's endless gallery of natural art and celebrating its beauty in photographic images. David will share his techniques for finding and capturing unique images of the endless natural art our planet has to offer. Led by Stephanie Punnett, Program Director Entice bluebirds to your backyard with a nestbox to raise their young! Eastern Bluebirds are great insect eaters. In this workshop we will assemble a nestbox from a kit, walk outdoors to look in a few nestboxes to look for and identify last year’s nests, and learn how to maintain your nestbox. We’ll look at several ways to mount your nestbox in your yard. Recommended for adults. One person per ticket. Ticket sale ends 2/10 at 4:00 PM. Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher/Naturalist Join Dorothy in the Nature Store’s Welcome Center and learn about the Great Backyard Bird Count. Take part in a citizen science project and apply what you learn to your own backyard the next day. Loaner binoculars will be available as we count the birds at the Scherman Hoffman feeders. Led by Bonnie O’Connor, Art Teacher, and Stephanie Punnett, Program Director. Paint your own gourd birdhouse for the cavity nesting birds returning from their winter homes this spring. Bonnie, retired art teacher with 40 years experience, will give a demonstration on painting technique, and help you along with your painting. All materials provided. Information on growing your own gourds will be provided. Hang your decorative gourd birdhouse in your backyard and enjoy watching the new resident raise their young! Led by Phil Witt, NJ Audubon Associate Naturalist This workshop will focus on techniques used to photograph wildlife, especially birds.  In addition to reviewing equipment selection and use, the topics of time of day, weather, composition and light will be covered. Students will be introduced to critical variables to control in bird/wildlife photography, such as exposure and shutter speed.
