NJ Audubon: Morning Walk at Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesEnjoy a quiet morning here at the Sanctuary walking the trails with an NJ Audubon staff or Associate Naturalist. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. There will be no walk 4/4, 5/2. 5/9, and 5/23. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? IN-PERSON Nature Infused Yoga
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Kristen Mylecraine, Yoga Teacher and NJ Audubon Senior Research Scientist Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat. For ages 15 years and older. This workshop will be held outdoors when the weather is suitable. During inclement weather it will be held indoors. Ticket sale ends on the day of each class at 10:45 AM. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. There will be no classes 4/4, 5/9, and 5/23. NJ Audubon Digital Photography Workshop 7: Bird and Wildlife Photography

In addition to reviewing equipment selection and use, the topics of time of day, weather, composition and light will be covered. Students will be introduced to critical variables to control in bird/wildlife photography, such as exposure and shutter speed. Phil will cover typical camera settings useful for bird/wildlife photography. In addition, the program will include photo editing techniques used to process wildlife images using Adobe Camera RAW, Photoshop and NIK Plug Ins. Students are encouraged to submit one photo (preferably RAW) for editing demonstrations. Lecture/discussion. Ticket sale ends on 03/13/26 at 4:00 PM. COST: $12 members, $25 nonmembers. NJ Audubon: Saturday Early Spring Hike
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Sue Predl, Nature Store Assistant Join Sue for a guided two-mile nature hike to enjoy the trees, birds, and plant life at Scherman Hoffman Nature Sanctuary. The trails we hike will vary, but we can guarantee beautiful views of our sanctuary. Walking time is flexible but will be approximately 2 hours. Please dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes; be prepared to walk on uneven ground and up hills. The hike will go rain or shine. Registration required at Eventbrite by 3/14 at 12:00 PM. NJ Audubon Learning the Birds by Song Series
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Randy Little, Associate Naturalist For beginners and those with some experience, this birding-by-ear series will improve your bird identification skills. More often than not, birds are heard before they are seen (if seen at all!) Learning their songs will add another dimension to your birdwatching. Randy Little is a former NJA board member and long-time NJA volunteer. Randy learned birding as a youngster under the wings of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology’s founders and is a master at recording bird songs for the Cornell Lab. This series will begin Sunday March 15 and continue Sunday afternoons until April 26; there will be no class April 5. March 15 & 22 classes will cover the winter resident birds, March 29 & April 12 classes will cover the early migrant birds, and April 19 & 26 classes will cover the summer resident birds. Registration and fee are per class. You must pre-register for each class you wish to attend. Ticket sale for each class ends at 4:00 PM on the day before each class. Open Air/ Open Space Art Exhibition at the Wayrick Wildlife Art Gallery
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesExperience Open Air / Open Space, a juried art exhibit celebrating Somerset County's Open Space Preservation Program, featured in the Wayrick Art Gallery on the 2nd floor of the Scherman Hoffman Nature Center from February 6 through March 25. This special exhibition showcases the unique beauty of Somerset County's extensive public park system through the perspectives of both professional and novice New Jersey Plein Air artists. Sponsored by the Somerset County Board of County Commissioners, Somerset County Park Commission, Somerset County Open Space Preservation Program, and Somerset County Cultural & Heritage Commission, the exhibit honors the county's long-standing commitment to preserving land for conservation, passive use, and active recreation.
