Each themed day will be filled with super fun Teacher/Naturalist led activities and adventures in the great outdoors. Sign up for one or more days. Be sure to pack a snack and lunch. For youth ages 6 to 10 years. COST: $100.00 per day. SCHEDULE: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM each day Monday, March 30– Camp Favorites - Enjoy summer campers' favorite activities, outdoor exploration, art project, and nature game. Tuesday, March 31 – Enchanted Woodlands - Make a fairy house or a gnome home for the fairies and gnomes in our Enchanted Forest. Wednesday, April 1 – Home Sweet Home - Make and take home some "home sweet homes" for the animals. Wednesday, April 8 - Camp Favorites - Enjoy summer campers' favorite activities, outdoor exploration, art project, and nature game. Thursday, April 9 – Enchanted Woodlands - Make a fairy house or a gnome home for the fairies and gnomes in our Enchanted Forest. These walks are informal and informative: birds, trees, tracks, wildflowers, reptiles, and amphibians are a few of nature’s wonders waiting for us to discover. The walks are cancelled if there is snow, rain, or weather warnings. There will be no walk 4/4, 5/2. 5/9, and 5/23. COST: Free for members, $5 nonmembers. Interested in becoming a member? IN-PERSON Nature Infused Yoga
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Kristen Mylecraine, Yoga Teacher and NJ Audubon Senior Research Scientist Yoga is a great way to relax, connect with yourself, and increase flexibility and strength. Explore the connections between yoga and nature in this 75-minute class. No experience necessary; all levels welcome. Please arrive 10 minutes early and bring a yoga mat. For ages 15 years and older. This workshop will be held outdoors when the weather is suitable. During inclement weather it will be held indoors. Ticket sale ends on the day of each class at 10:45 AM. We are offering an in-person class at the sanctuary and a virtual class online simultaneously. Be sure to purchase the correct ticket. There will be no classes 4/4, 5/9, and 5/23. Led by Dorothy Smullen, Teacher Naturalist. Don’t just scan the color pages to try to identify wildflowers! Join Dorothy to learn how to use the identification keys in your guidebooks. We will brush up on flower vocabulary and practice hands-on ID in the indoor part. Following that, we will walk the trails to see and identify what's in bloom. NJ Audubon Learning the Birds by Song Series
New Jersey Audubon's Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary 11 Hardscrabble Road, Bernardsville, NJ, United StatesLed by Randy Little, Associate Naturalist For beginners and those with some experience, this birding-by-ear series will improve your bird identification skills. More often than not, birds are heard before they are seen (if seen at all!) Learning their songs will add another dimension to your birdwatching. Randy Little is a former NJA board member and long-time NJA volunteer. Randy learned birding as a youngster under the wings of the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology’s founders and is a master at recording bird songs for the Cornell Lab. This series will begin Sunday March 15 and continue Sunday afternoons until April 26; there will be no class April 5. March 15 & 22 classes will cover the winter resident birds, March 29 & April 12 classes will cover the early migrant birds, and April 19 & 26 classes will cover the summer resident birds. Registration and fee are per class. You must pre-register for each class you wish to attend. Ticket sale for each class ends at 4:00 PM on the day before each class.
