The park is located directly on Raritan Bay and features beach, tidal flats, salt marsh and wooded areas. A paved walking path runs along the waterfront offering unobstructed views of Raritan Bay. We may also explore the beach and tidal flats depending on tides. We will scan for loons, grebes, ducks, gulls, gannets, other seabirds, and look for any rarities. Scoters, scaup, bufflehead, Dunlin, sanderling, Bald Eagles, Merlin, and Peregrines are all possibilities. The salt marsh and wooded areas may also provide other wintering birds and late migrants. Much of the trip is on level ground but prepare for wind and weather. Led by Dave Oster, Associate Naturalist COST: $10 members, $15 nonmembers. Registration required. Walk-ins will not be permitted to participate. Ticket sales end on 03/19/2021 at 5:00 PM. Interested in becoming a member? $20.00

Early spring birding for loons, grebes, gulls, & migrants. If winds are right, we could have a modest hawk flight. Raritan Bay Waterfront Park has long been known as a concentration point for Bonaparte's Gulls in spring. If we're lucky a Little Gull or Black-headed Gull could be among them. The bay usually hosts a variety of waterbirds in early spring and some landbird migrants could be around. Led by Scott Barnes and Hank Burk.
