It seemed as if some of the birds that had dropped into Cape May with migration two nights ago were feeding up at CHC WMA this morning. In addition to the many Gray Catbirds and Northern Flickers, we had a good variety of warblers. Red-breasted Nuthatches were heard calling in a couple of places, the Osprey were still common overhead and the back pond held both Green and Great Blue Herons. Perhaps the most satisfying bird of the morning was a Swainson’s Thrush that perched on a limb at eye level for a couple of minutes, giving us great views, before it dropped out of sight.
